short of jed york deciding he's going to be the GM, HC and just for good measure the starting qb i'm not sure there's anything the 49ers can do to be more embarrassing

New England will be the home team on Week 1's Thursday Night Football. Here are their potential opponents. (and my own ranking of the Pats most likely opponent)

1. Atlanta Falcons
2. Kansas City Chiefs
3. Houston Texans
4. Carolina Panthers
5. Miami Dolphins
6. Los Angeles Chargers
7. Buffalo Bills
8. New York Jets

That list sounds right, only thing I would change is I would put Carolina #2.

Unless Houston makes a move for a QB (Jimmy?)

Sark seems like a solid choice. He didn't get fired because of ability.

Isn't Sark on the bottle? Guess that gives him something in common with Falcons fans after that loss.

At least some good came from the ATL bars being open an extra 2 hours on Sunday

Sark coached in the NFL once...in 2004...as QB coach for the Raiders...he helped Kerry Collins to 20 interceptions & a 3-10 record in 13 starts.

Uh, probably the other way around would be more likely.

Isnt sark pretty well regarded as an offensive coordinator??

I barely watch college fb, but I don't see many hot names out there for oc.

I don't follow college football, but how did SS go from bring fired for being drunk to beck on top of the football world in like 1.5 years?

49ers doing an elite job of sabotaging not just themselves this time but take another franchise down with them.

Julio/some elite OL/and actual RB's with non **** QB.

Gonna be fun to see how he screws that up.

Firing your defensive staff after losing the super bowl is something

not gonna search for any details but atlantas defense was very bad most of the year

I do not understand firing the DL coach based on merit. Beasley/Jarrett did work this year.

Browns released mccown. Where's marc trestman at these days? Oh right, out of the league again.

Falcons defense played better toward the end of the year, but I'm not sure how much credit the coaches should get vs. the growth with experience of all the first- and second-year players. (They did use first- and second-round picks on defenders each of the last two years.)

I definitely feel like all this coaching turnover is gonna help Atlanta's chances of being the latest Super Bowl-losing team to not return to the playoffs.

Makes the head coach look better, gives him someone to blame. Same for the GM.

Especially after the game they just played, ATL@NE for the Thursday night opener is a lock.

Brady vs Jimmy would be interesting but it's not close to the same level as a rematch of the most recent super bowl which happened to be a great game. Even if it hadn't been a great game the rematch on Thursday would be a lock.
