He tore his Achilles after leaving Carolina. He was a heathy cut to save like $3M or so if I recall. It was something like $8M to keep him or $5M in dead cap to cut.

So lucky whitehead was cut because it was rumored he missed a court date due to shoplifting. Day after being cut it was reported it was another lucky whitehead. Cowboys still cut him and now they're saving face saying it was in the best interest of the club
