Guys with his size/speed combo always get more chances than they deserve.

Some HC with a savior complex will scoop him up for training camp.

I guess it's very similar to NBA gms obsession with height.

1) You play all the teams in your division twice (6 games)
2) You play all the teams in your conference that finished the same place as you once (3 games)--there are a list of tie breakers for play but essentially this is it
3) You play another division in the other conference in a rotating fashion so that you play every other division in a conference once every 4 years (4 games)
4) You play another division in your conference in the same manner as 3 but you don't count the game from #2 twice (3 games)

And that's your NFL schedule every year.

So on the last day of the schedule (week 17) you can basically figure out your schedule but not the order and the days (Thurs/Sun/Mon). Just look at the teams you played 4 seasons ago before it to determine which divisions outside your own you will be playing that year.

Now the home/away splits for 2-4 are determined in some way although I know it's not always fair and I can remember games especially with category 2 where 1 teams hosts a few years in a row.
Max is 3 but the next 2 you have to finish in the same spot in the division. Basically the year you play that division, the next 2 you are either hosting or @ that same division (ie this year the NFC North plays the NFC East and the Bears are @ Dal/NYG, if in 18/19 they end up same order in division as say the giants, they will end up going to nyg for 3 straight seasons before hosting them when the division turn around happens and then they host NFC East the next 2 after.

They flipped the order from the west teams awhile ago because oak/sd vs kc/den wasn't fair for travel fairness and that led to some weird situations where a few teams didn't host each other for a long ass time.

high hopes for the rams nepotism this season

anyone ever asks if you're so smart why aren't you working for NFL--it's because you're not the son of a football coach.

Anyone have a list of the teams with new head coaches? Would also be interested in teams that have new coordinators.

I would be a little concerned if I were an Atlanta fan that both coordinator spots are turning over.

Why? The MVP runs the show. Not worried about the offense and Quinn isn't going to let the defense rot. This team is young and fast, you can't teach speed. Not a one hit wonder.

Our OC is the reason we lost the ****ing SB for Christ sake. Yea he was part of the success but his mistake was humorous. Atlanta's offense was legit before him, not like we instantly became good on that side of the ball when he got there. We have the best WR in the NFL and leaps and bounds the best 1/2 punch at RB in the league. I could call plays.

The biggest concern for Atlanta is simply how the hell do you get over blowing a 28-3 lead in the superbowl. Wasn't long ago there was a solid streak of superbowl losers having like 8-8 seasons the year after. Oh right, that happened last time too.

A regression of the offensive output was likely anyway, and everyone having to learn a new offense only makes it more likely. The dumbfounding second half of the Superbowl aside, Shanahan seems like a + OC.

Smart decision by the Falcons. Make Ryan have a terrible year just so they can overpay him slightly less on his next megacontract.

I don't know if this was posted, but pretty ****ed up. Clinton Portis contemplated murdering one of his financial managers after he mismanaged his assets.

Quote:
Former Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis contemplated killing one of his former financial managers after losing millions of dollars in various investments, helping to wipe out part of his NFL fortune.

In a story published by Sports Illustrated, Portis recounted a night four years ago in which he sat in a car outside a building, holding a gun and awaiting one of the managers he felt had ruined him financially. Portis had made $43.1 million in his nine-year NFL career, but most of it had either been spent or lost through investments or, as one lawsuit asserted, bank withdrawals without his consent.

An anonymous friend, a television producer who had been trained as a family therapist, talked him out of committing murder. But Portis said he went there, sitting in his car late at night outside a building in Washington, D.C., with one purpose.

"It wasn't no beat up," Portis told Sports Illustrated. "It was kill."

Yeah, that's weird. I just went by this list:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...e_coordinators

Remembered thinking briefly "wasn't he already there?", but then figured he must have had a title change or something, but clicking through his name shows otherwise, & that this will be his 3rd year as OC.

17. A. Donald

Think V. Beasley, D. Hunter round out the pass rusher tier. Tyron Smith comes off soon. There's a ton of young good WRs out there that'll start going. I would have taken Lamar Jackson way too high in this

LOL at drafting the olds, Kirk Cousins, Sam Darnold, and Kuechly (concussions). First few rounds I wouldn't really want to draft a non-QB with a career so far that you'd take over their projected future/remaining years. Although there'd be a few exceptions like V. Miller, Julio, etc where you just can't pass em.

imo Carr that high is lol

I'll take Cam, Mariota, Winston, Dak over him

Darnold 15 is kinda WTF, I mean he might be really good but a lot can happen to curtail the development of a 20-year-old with one year of college starting experience

Taking a linebacker at all in the top 25 is LOL. Shouldn't be anything but QBs and pass rushers. (Odell is acceptable I guess because he's so good and young; the point is your foundation should either be passing or stopping the pass, and a middle linebacker is just not that important at those things.)

Darnold at 15 makes me think of Matt Barkley and to a lesser extent Jimmy Clausen cratering their stock after being super hyped before the CFB season. First time I saw Luck it was like 10 plays/1 drive and I was sold. Darnold doesn't do the same for me.
