Someone had to do it...

So Marrone's the Jags new coach.

Still looking for new HCs for these teams:

Rams
Bills
Chargers
Broncos
49ers

Latest on the Bills is that they will announce they have chosen Sean McDermott as their coach as soon as tomorrow, with a very real chance he'll be bringing Mike McCoy as OC and Texans DBs coach John Butler as DC along with him.

So the jags promoted from within and only fired Gus Bradley after one of the worst stretches in NFL history.

Kahn goes out and buys a bunch of sports teams and doesn't give a **** about winning. Well at least he fits right in perfectly with most NFL owners.

Only a desperate coach is gonna take the 9ers job. Hey, Tomsula's probably available...

30yr old Sean McVay is back for a 2nd interview with the Rams. He's the only known one so far with a 2nd interview. Apparently he will try and get Wade Phillips to follow him to LA if he becomes the new HC

quote from some article "San Diego ran analystics before they [interviewed candidates] and their analytics showed that you've got a much better shot if you're hiring a guy that's got head-coaching experience."

Jeff Fisher's available san diego!

Titans or Rams should bring him back on a "Coach Til You Lose" contract at the start of the season.

Either he wins the SB or he sets the record and is out of town again. Win/win, so to speak.

I think they confuse "analytics" with "simple math that is skewed by Bill Belichick".

Per "analytics", black head coaches were 32-47-1 last year, so the Broncos probably made a mistake hiring Joseph.

Yes. Most glaringly, Vance Joseph's first name does not start with an A or B. Coaches whose first names start with a A were 22-10 and coaches whose first names start with a B were 41-22-1.

This means that all other coaches were 31 games under .500 for the season.

I also note that coaches with no facial hair were 9 games under .500 on the season, and Vance Joseph does not have facial hair.

So who is the hottest head coaching candidate of 2017 per analytics?

There is literally one current NFL coordinator who fits the criteria.

White (19 games over .500)
1st name starting with A or B (31 games over .500)
Facial hair (9 games over .500)

Spoiler:

In unrelated news, head coaches with previous NFL head coaching experience prior to their current jobs were 89-107-2 last season.

They were actually 49-46-1 last year. Seems unsustainable.

in other offseason news, I'm really interested in where the QB $$ market goes this year.

There's Cousins, who should be able to break the ceiling if he's prepared to leave the Skins and may even if he stays

There's also Stafford who is still only 28 and has one year left on his deal and has already been paid $110m. That young man is gonna be the highest paid player in NFL history by the end of his career - I'm interested in whether he signs a long deal or another 3 year time thing, which would give him time for another mega deal when he's 31/32

Bradford (29, $91m) only has one year left on his deal and it's an interesting spot. If Vikes let him go into last year of his deal, then they lose a load of trade value for him if Teddy comes back and they want to go with Teddy. But Bradford has a load of leverage for this reason if they do try to re-up him and it isn't in his interests to sign another 1 or 2 year deal. So he could force their hand either to give him a monster contract, which would definitely mean bye bye Teddy or let him go into the last year of his deal. I expect Vikes will hold off til training camp to see how Teddy's health is and then make a call either to re-up Bradford or to trade him before the season

less interesting, but the Cutler, Romo, Tyrod situations are all pretty fluid too.
