NFL Dynasty Asset Draft 2016 Interest + Rules Discussion - Page 3 - Sporting Events and Fantasy Sports

Well, the title of the thread is "Dynasty Asset Draft"-- so I think some consideration has to be given for the long term, although how long is open for discussion, and the cap already creates a certain limitation on team-building.

I'm not sure if the cap considerations are just going to completely override the dynasty aspect or not. But I think it's good to build a team with a plan beyond one season.

Ya the good value part is kind of a moment in time thing. I would be fine with either a dynasty or 1 yr outlook, although I would lean in favor of dynasty.

But yeah, if it is a Dynasty thing there's no point in doing a 1-year artificial cap.

So we have 14 owners now. I'm down with one team per owner, even if we don't get any more. I think I've been convinced that the cap restrictions will compensate for the ability to theoretically build superteams. I'll leave it open though so hopefully we get a few more.

Everyone up for 26 players? You should still get capable players at that point. I'm thinking of a cap somewhere between $80-100m. A little more per player might make more sense with a smaller owner pool, but we don't want to make it too easy.

Works for me. Been busy the last couple of days so I'll bump it one more time to see if we have any additional interest. 26 man rosters, $100m cap work for everyone? (let me know if you think that cap is too high.)

OK. This is the owner list we're going with. I'll allow jump-ins if people post. Give me a little time to set up a spreadsheet and randomize the draft order.

I propose ABBA snake at least for the first four rounds. From there we can keep it ABBA or go ABAB. Or whatever.

The site has plenty of options, sort by position, etc. You can even sort by "entry level" (rookie contract) if you want. "Cap Hit" is the # we are using.

Since cap space is the main priority and most contracts in the NFL aren't very long, I'd say three years is the optimum window. I'd encourage people to build for longer, but that may not be mutually compatible with the cap space thing.

I thought about that, but then I realized that we're essentially using the top 26 players on a roster, whereas NFL teams will fill those backup slots as cheaply as possible.

We'll see how it works out. There are a lot of overpaid veterans due specifically to the # of good rookie contracts out there, & we have less than half the # of teams as the NFL does.

It doesn't really matter. Any different # just provides a slightly different kind of test, & $100m does happen to be a nice round #.
