Calm down jmurder.
I'm calm? Nath asked me a question, so I answered it. I think the way they chose to spend that money that they had to spend is a bad sign. We shall see.

Nobody worth a damn in free agency was telling their agent "I want the 9ers offer!".

Seems like it was all short-term, borderline NFL depth for little money. Appears to be competent GM'ing during a rebuild. Keeps flexibility while providing at least a baseline of NFL depth chart talent.

Losses are okay, if not desired, losing by multiple touchdowns isn't.

You can still overpay interesting people who might be part of your future when you're hopefully good, or throw $ toward extensions to your core, or not invest in people who are old & meh.

Just seems like they're trying super hard for 5-11 with no actual long-term plan.

I have no emotional investment in the team one way or the other, I would just be surprised if the John Lynch thing works out. As always, happy to be proven wrong, though.

Jaguars will be paying Fournette 4 yrs 27mm (+5th yr option potential).
Vikings will be paying Cook 4 yrs 6mm.

Let's factor in the draft capital:

Jags move from #4 to #10 and net a 3rd. They then take the KC/Mahomes trade. Netting pick #27, a 3rd, and a future 1st. They then take GB/CLE moving down to the top pick in RD 3. Netting a 4th from CLE. Then you take Cook 8 picks before he actually goes.

Cook 4 yrs ~7mm & a future 1st, 3rd, 3rd, and 4th
vs Fournette 4 yrs 27mm?

Not in love w/ Cook but it's just crazy that teams continually pass on trades like a late 1st, 3rd, and future 1st for a top 10 non-QB, much less RB.

Meh, looks to me like they were trying to fill out a roster that had basically no NFL talent with some bare minimum level of capability. A couple of the guys might be overpaid a little but I mean getting a bunch of cheap veterans is rarely terrible.

I think Chicago clearly thought someone else would make a move for the selection.

I'm guessing Chicago heard there was interest, but it was Mahomes that people were targeting.

At least we drafted 2 D-2 players among our other 4 selections. we got rid of Cutler and replaced him with another guy who looks and talks the part, but is nothing special. We're going to suck for a long time.

GM should have been fired 5 minutes after pissing away picks for Mitchell ****ing Trubisky.

North Carolina's future NFL wideouts got the man paid.

Blake Bortles, Mark Sanchez wannabe.

Bears draft is worse than I thought, 5th rd they drafted a guard, the one god damn position we didn't need to draft (maybe we're gonna cut sitton, who knwos with this team). We didn't draft any of the two positions we have nothing or very little at (WR/CB). we drafted another middle round running back like we do every year. (is it 4 or 5 in a row now? I don't want to look this up) A TE which I guess will replace one of the few halfway decent players on offense on the team.

The only defensive player we took in a loaded defensive draft already tore an ACL and broke his leg.

I mean the only thing bears fans can even root for is #1 pick then get the bucket ton of picks for whichever QB some other team wants. What will happen instead is that we'll beat the 9ers and the browns again (if we lost to them last year, we wouldn't have had to give up any picks) and screw this up.

Bears play the browns 2nd to last week, 0-14 BOWL ONE TIME?

So what are the chances Nathan Peterman becomes a better than average starting QB?

fired by whom? the ownership who would have signed off on the trade?

for me, the best part to the trade was that John Fox knew nothing about it til 30 mins beforehand He is utterly ****ed now - the decision makers clearly don't trust/rate him enough to involve him in the pick or the trade that strips him of 3 potential starters for a guy that won't play next year...his contract year.

He must improve results to keep his job, the talent on his 3-13 team got worse through the offseason and his bosses don't trust or involve him in a franchise defining decision.

he is a dead man walking. gg NFL Mr Fox

funnest thing to root for re the Bears in 2017 is gonna be them getting the #1 pick and then them passing on a potentially generational talent because they haven't yet seen what Mitchy can do.

Of course they'll get a load of picks in that scenario so you'll be able to talk yourself into thinking it's not such a bad thing but the picks won't make it feel much better for the following 15 years regretting it as they see Sam Darnold lighting up the league
