This BURNeko fellow sure seems like he's got everything figured out, between his Mike Lombardi is dumb and Bill Simmons always sucked taeks. I'd like to know which QB he prefers in this draft, so I could demonstrably pine for my team to draft that guy.

I've seen the same quote and what else is he gonna say? If they get offered a top 10 pick + a future 1st + a later round pick which Bills gave for Watkins, HOU and STL passed on for non-QBs. I don't think Browns pass on that, and they could do better. Helps them land a QB whether they want one this year or next.

Ya Garrett is good prospect but shouldn't a team in the top 10 who has QB established, and is more ready to compete value him higher? Off the top of my head: Tennesse who has lots of ammo.

Jackson just taking a tough line trying to drive up the price of the 1st overall pick if anybody wants it.

Also lol if anybody does

Pretty much a bad move to move up for anything less than a starting QB.

Meh, I get the argument for trading down but in this class I feel there's one prospect who's clearly superior to the rest. And the Browns have so many picks (and let's not forget they added a couple good free agents this year) that I think it's a solid choice to go with the top talent.

I can think of probably 10-12 WR prospects I had rated higher historically at WR coming out college than Julio Jones. He was a fantastic prospect but not sure I'd trade up for him in that draft. I'm leaning no but it's hard to say now because of the recency bias we all have with regards to him.

Jones is great and was a great prospect but there's definitely a case that trading up for him gutted Atlanta's roster too much (see the 2013 collapse).

And then of course the Browns blew those extra picks. Go figure, the one time pre-DiPodesta the New Browns make the theoretical right move and it still totally backfires on them.

Wasn't just one and all of them massively backfired b/c why wouldn't that be the case with the browns.

In this draft with everyone presuming browns taking myles and nobody trading a pile of picks for a defensive end, if there's a move up it's for the #2 pick, to prevent Chicago from taking their QB of choice or hilariously--a running back in fournette ahead of the jags.

Julio was a more regarded prospect than you typically get at the pick #. That doesn't factor in on the trade charts.

"Wasn't just one" what? Time the Browns did the right thing and it blew up in their faces?

Traded the pick that was Sammy Watkins--next pick was Khalil Mack for what turned into Justin Gilbert and Cameron Erving.

Traded Julio for a bunch of flotsam.

In 2009, the Browns traded the pick that ended up being Mark Sanchez for 3 players, only down 12 spots in round 1, and picked up a 2nd rounder. Then traded that 1st down again for a sixth rounder ,then traded down again for another sixth rounder.

The only player who got to 2011 out of all of that was alex mack (hey a good browns pick for once!) and because it's the browns--the pick immediately after they picked a bust in the 2nd round was lesean mccoy.

Passing up on top QB prospect for a center, idk man, idk.

The browns traded down in 2006 one spot and picked up an extra pick. The ravens took haloti ngata, the browns took kameron wimbley. Wimbley had a strong rookie year then just so-so after that before trading him for the pick that became colt mccoy, but you know who ngata is. Other guy only played a few games for cle.

Trading up doesn't go well for cle either, Manziel, Richardson, Brady Quinn (tho felix jones + kolb didn't amount to much). Kellen Winslow (passing up on roeth bonus) for Roy Williams + a 2nd rounder (it was one spot, lol). They traded up a spot to get gilbert, that pick they gave up was anthony barr.

oh fun fact, that Julio Trade, they traded back up for phil taylor, giving up a 3rd round pick because it's the browns, that pick ended up being Justin Houston. (browns would never have drafted him anyway obv)

Depends on where you are moving up from. If you are moving up from 2 or 3 it might make sense to get Garrett. Not this year for the 49ers or Bears. Starting with the Jags would have to give up a first round next year plus more picks to move up just using the chart as a rough measuring stick. After that probably way too high of a price.

Browns fans went through a 1-15 season where it was pretty obvious the Browns had a throw away/tanking season. We'll see about season ticket sales. The Browns didn't raise prices this year of course. There are a lot of pissed off Browns fans in Cleveland, I know some very well that include season ticket holders. My take from the media and fan base in Cleveland is that they want to retain the pick and are excited about it. They are also pretty much excited about Garrett. The Browns will get savaged by the media and fan base if they trade out of it. The Browns got savaged by the fans and the media in Cleveland for not picking Wentz and it has continued to this day. The Browns have been terrible for decades, the younger NFL fans have seen nothing but incompetence and losing records for the most part. The Browns really need to get this draft right. Picking the obvious #1 is pretty much a done deal. Just my $0.02 from a guy on the internet.

I thought the Brown's drafted well last year. I loved the Ogbah pick at the start of the second round. If Garrett has a Bosa like effect(maybe) and Ogbah progresses, which I anticipate, the Brown's could have a crazy pass rush this year. Look at Denver or the giants when they won the SB. I'm not saying the Browns are going to win the SB. Elite pass rushers are so hard to defend or counter though that it's a legit path to a SB even without a top 15 QB.

Big Sasha Brown fan. I anticipate the Brown's drafting very well again this year.

Never give the Browns credit until they actually start winning football games. MONEYBALL! Buy season tickets.

Fair enough but I'm a buyer of Cleveland shares. I just worry that ownership might not give the gm enough time. Plus I hate the coaching staff.

Oh, right. The Watkins trade, of course.

I'm not sure the 2009 trade even counts as the right decision since they got so little in return. Mangini was so obsessed with getting "his guys" that he moved from 5 to 21 for like a second-round pick and three scrubs.

Also, stupid Browns should've kept the Justin Houston pick so Houston would've made it to the Saints. Instead we got Martez Wilson, who washed out pretty quickly.
