This was the 4th-easiest question, with 71 correct entrants, and 26 incorrects.
The average entrant score was 17.39, which was 6th-highest.

INCORRECT ANSWERS
San Francisco (3), Kansas City (2), Green Bay (3), New England (13), Cincinnati (3), Denver (2)

THOUGHTS ON THE QUESTION
This question (or where teams win openers after losing) is always a good game-starter. The 2017 game will start off looking for a team that lost their 2016 opener, but won their first game in 2017.

Of the 6 incorrect teams, half the incorrects were on New England, and they would have been right if Chandler Catanzaro had made his 47-yard FG attempt.

Our SHEEP with 21 was Miami - and all those pickers would have been wrong if not for Doug Baldwin's last-second TD during the Week 1 late games. As it turns out, the best answer to the question was Los Angeles, who lost by 28 at the 49ers. And only 4 entrants thought to pick them.

KRAZYKRIS' PICK
The Cincinnati Bengals (incorrect - 31 points)

The Bengals' Week 1 game came down to the end, but they won at the Jets for the first time since 1981. Had the Jets prevailed, my score would have been 3 instead of 31.

In the last minute, Mike Nugent made a 47-yard FG to give the Bengals the lead. The Jets got the ball with :54 left, and Ryan Fitzpatrick found a wide-open Brandon Marshall on the first play. But Marshall dropped the ball. Two plays later, Josh Shaw intercepted Fitzpatrick, and that was that. Half of Week 1's games could have gone either way, and this game simply went the Bengals' way this time.

KRAZYKRIS' AFTER-THE-FACT PICK
The Arizona Cardinals

There were no unplayed correct answers here, so I have to look at the question's two aces - Arizona and Carolina. As we'll see later, my answer to Question 21 was Denver (team to miss playoffs in '16 after making them in '15). In order for that answer to be correct, Denver was going to have to lose the type of games in 2016 that they won in 2015. I saw their opener as one of those games. Meaning I thought Carolina was going to win that game, so by default, my answer here is Arizona.

And as we all know, Denver won this game and still missed the playoffs. So I guess the operation was a failure, but the patient still survived. Junior Mint anyone?

My actual score after Week 1 was 31 points. My after-the-fact score after Week 1 is 2 points.

This tied for hardest question, with 29 right entrants, and 68 wrong.
The average entrant score was 13.39, which was 9th-lowest.

INCORRECT ANSWERS
Jacksonville (2), Chicago (1), Cleveland (1), Indianapolis (3), Miami (1), New Orleans (2), Los Angeles (1), Tennessee (2), Cincinnati (1), Oakland (4), Seattle (16), Kansas City (6), Atlanta (1), Green Bay (8), Dallas (1), Detroit (1), Carolina (4), Arizona (13)

CORRECT ANSWERS

UNPLAYED ACES
Denver and Minnesota

THOUGHTS ON THE QUESTION
A variation of this question will remain in Week 2 for the 2017 game. But I had no idea this question would tie for most difficult in the game. All told, 18 different incorrect teams were taken.

The Rams' upset of Seattle meant 16 incorrect Seahawk pickers. 13 of you were wrong after Arizona lost to New England, and 8 of you missed by picking Green Bay. They lost Week 2's SNF matchup to a Vikings team that started with no Bridgewater, and ended with no Peterson.

In terms of the corrects, 6 of the 8 2-0 teams were taken. iversonian aced with NE (they beat Arizona and Miami), while the Giants' wins over Dallas and the Saints earned Stellamoose an ace. The Ravens SHEEPed after beating Buffalo and Cleveland, including overturning a 20-0 deficit at the Browns.

KRAZYKRIS' PICK
The Houston Texans (correct - 6 points)

Houston was 1 of 4 teams to start 2016 with 2 home games. They trailed at halftime of Week 1, but ended up beating Chicago 23-14. Next, they faced Kansas City, a team that had beaten them 30-0 in Houston 9 months earlier. But the Texans' D held the Chiefs to 4 field goals (unusual for an Andy Reid offense), and Houston won 19-12.

Their magical start to the season would end in Week 3, as they lost 27-0 to Jacoby Brissett and the Pats in the Thursday nighter.

KRAZYKRIS' AFTER-THE-FACT PICK
The Minnesota Vikings

As I explained last recap, I thought Denver would miss the playoffs in 2016. Therefore, they wouldn't have been on my list of potential answers to this question, even though they started with home games against Carolina and Indy (who would combine to go 14-18 in 2016). As it turns out, Denver would start 4-0 before finishing 9-7.

By default, that leaves Minnesota. They lost their starting QB in the preseason, and their starting RB in Week 2. They were outplayed badly in Week 1, and managed only 17 points against Green Bay in Week 2. Which makes them the perfect answer to this question somehow. Variance?

Week 1 last year was a case of the Titans beating themselves. They led 10-0 at halftime, but turned the ball over 3 times in the second half, including giving up a pair of TD's on offense. The offense gave up more than the defense did.

My actual score after Week 2 was 37 points. My after-the-fact score after Week 2 is 3 points.

The average entrant score was 14.10, which was 12th-lowest.

INCORRECT ANSWERS
San Francisco (2), Philadelphia (1), Pittsburgh (2), Baltimore (2), Los Angeles (12), Miami (1), Minnesota (18), Denver (3)

UNPLAYED ACES
Arizona, Buffalo, and Tampa Bay

THOUGHTS ON THE QUESTION
A variation of this question will return for 2017, and will remain in Week 3, since 3 teams begin 2017 with a pair of road games, and a different 3 open up with back-to-back home dates.

Over half the incorrects took one of two teams - Minnesota and L.A. The Vikes opened up U.S. Bank Stadium with a 17-14 win over Green Bay, while the Rams beat Seattle 9-3 in Week 2. Myself and 11 others missed as Seattle lost at the Rams for the third straight season.

13 of the 16 correct teams were taken, and Washington SHEEPed, as they lost to Pittsburgh in Week 1. Three aces were played, including JimHalpert's pick of Detroit. The Lions blew a late lead against Tennessee, but recovered to make the playoffs at 9-7.

KRAZYKRIS' PICK
The Los Angeles Rams (incorrect - 24 points)

The Rams were hosting Seattle in Week 2, and had already lost 28-0 at San Fran in Week 1. In Week 2, they didn't find the end zone again, but somehow won the game. Three FG's from Young GZ were enough, as the Rams beat the Seahawks 9-3. Seattle had a chance late, but Alec Ogletree recovered a Chris Michael fumble, as the Seahawks remained winless at the Rams since 2013.

KRAZYKRIS' AFTER-THE-FACT PICK
The Buffalo Bills

Each of the 97 entrants stayed away from the Pats-Cards matchup in Week 1 (myself included). The Pats with Garappolo under center were an unknown quantity, and Arizona was only an unplayed ace because of a missed FG from Catanzaro.

Quote:

Thinking back to before the season, I think the Bills would have been worth a shot (they hosted the Jets in Week 2's Thursday nighter). The Jets were coming off a 10-6 campaign in 2015, while the Bills went 8-8 (shocking for a Rex Ryan team, I know). There was also the revenge factor, as it was Buffalo's win in Week 17 the previous year that kept the Jets from the playoffs.

As it turns out, the Bills would struggle to a 7-9 record, while the Jets went 5-11. But behind Ryan Fitzpatrick's 374 yards passing, the Jets would win this game 37-31, recording the 400th win in franchise history.

My actual score after Week 3 was 61 points. My after-the-fact score after Week 3 is 4 points.

THOUGHTS ON THE QUESTION
This question will not return for the 2017 game.

Just under 2/3rds of the field got this one wrong. Allen Robinson was the incorrect SHEEP (11), while Odell Beckham Jr. missed out by 4 yards. 23 different incorrect players were taken.

In terms of the corrects, Julio Jones was the SHEEP, and 3 aces were played. 2 WR's qualified twice (Antonio Brown and A.J. Green), and 11 of the 15 potential correct answers were chosen.

KRAZYKRIS' PICK
Julio Jones (correct - 8 points)

After some quick research, I settled on Jones for this question. The NFL's receiving yardage leader from 2015 began that campaign with 3 games of 130+ receiving yards, so I figured he was worth a try here.

After 106 yards in Week 2 at Oakland, Jones qualified at the final attempt, managing 300 receiving yards in Week 4 versus Carolina. He put up the most receiving yards in a game by a Falcon, and became just the sixth player in NFL history with at least 300 receiving yards in a single game.

KRAZYKRIS' AFTER-THE-FACT PICK
Eric Decker

Of the 4 unplayed aces, I immediately crossed off Brown and Pryor. That left Decker and Diggs.

Before the season, I think I would have been more likely to go with Decker. He topped 1,000 yards for the third time in 2015, and 2016 was going to be his third season with the Jets. Diggs was a second-year receiver, coming off of a 720-yard performance in 2015.

As it turns out, Decker would get injured early in the 2016 season, and would finish with 194 receiving yards. But 126 of them came in Week 2 against the Bills, just enough to make him a correct answer.

My actual score after Week 4 was 69 points. My after-the-fact score after Week 4 is 5 points.

UNPLAYED ACES
R Fitzpatrick, B Hoyer, C Newton, T Siemian

THOUGHTS ON THE QUESTION
This question will return in 2017, but I might change the week.

The 18 incorrects took 8 different QB's. Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott were the most popular incorrects, while BenjaminAO missed out on an ace by 3 yards with Tyrod Taylor.

Eli Manning was the SHEEP (10), and there were five different aces. Habsfan09 took a chance with Tom Brady, and TB12 managed 406 passing yards in Cleveland in Week 5 (his only chance to qualify for this question). Drew Brees was a 9-pointer; he led the NFL in 2016 with 5,208 passing yards.

KRAZYKRIS' PICK
Philip Rivers (correct - 6 points)

I took a look at Rivers' game logs from 2015, and decided to choose him. He opened the 2015 season with 403 yards against Detroit, and topped 500 in Week 6 at Green Bay.

He ended up qualifying three times, in Weeks 3, 4, and 5 (all San Diego losses). We'll see what happens in 2017, as the team moves to Los Angeles. Maybe kids 9 and 10 for Philip and Tiffany?

KRAZYKRIS' AFTER-THE-FACT PICK
Cam Newton

I looked at the 4 unplayed aces, and crossed off Hoyer (he was Cutler's backup) and Siemian (hadn't started an NFL game). That left Ryan Fitzpatrick and Cam Newton.

Prior to the season, I likely would have gone with the 2015 NFL MVP. Newton topped 300 yards 3 times in '15, and had 3 more of those games in '16. One of them came in Week 2, as he passed for 353 and 4 TD's against the 9ers. Carolina struggled and regressed in 2016, but that Week 2 game was one of their bright spots.

My actual score after Week 5 was 75 points. My after-the-fact after Week 5 is 6 points.

THOUGHTS ON THE QUESTION
I am unsure if this question will return in 2017. I try to have one team-related D/ST question every game; I haven't decided if this is the one moving forward.

The 37 incorrects took 11 different teams. 9 of you took our most popular incorrect (Oakland), while nails missed out on an ace when Baltimore's C.J. Mosley fumbled a Kirk Cousins interception out of the end zone in Week 5.

Arizona SHEEPed with 13 points, while there were 3 aces played. I will note Jeremy517's ace of Carolina; they were the only one-pointer to qualify twice. The Minnesota Vikings led all teams with 4 qualifying TD's (in 5 games no less, as their bye came in Week 6).

KRAZYKRIS' PICK
The Denver Broncos (correct - 6 points)

Denver scored 6 D/ST TD's in 2015, en route to capturing Super Bowl 50. There was going to be an obvious dropoff in QB play (going from Manning to Siemian/Lynch), so I took a chance with the defending champs. As it turns out, they qualified twice in the fourth quarter of their Week 2 win, scoring 4 D/ST TD's in 2016 altogether.

So it appears I thought Denver would succeed enough to qualify here, but fail just enough to miss the playoffs. 2-for-2 somehow.

(By the way, I'm aware of the irony of appearing on TV in order to decry it, so don't bother pointing that out).

KRAZYKRIS' AFTER-THE-FACT PICK
The New York Giants

I looked at the 3 unplayed aces, and immediately discredited Cleveland. That left the Falcons and the Giants. I know Atlanta qualified twice, but prior to the season, I would have leaned towards Big Blue.

I took the Giants in Week 13, and should have gone with them here as well. They had 2016's 2nd-easiest schedule, they went 11-5, and were led defensively by DPOY-candidate Landon Collins. They qualified in Week 2 against New Orleans, when Janoris Jenkins scored a TD on a blocked FG return.

My actual score after Week 6 was 81 points. My after-the-fact score after Week 6 is 7 points.

You are really good at the after-the-fact scoring.
