I read something yesterday that had Bowers going 1st overall if Luck stays at Stanford. Insanity?

If Luck doesn't come out, one of the top QB's will magically rise up the boards and become the #1 pick. It almost always happens.

It will be funny if Luck does come out and doesn't go #1.

If Luck doesn't come out, he's an idiot.

i think hes mediocre at best and the bengals should take a QB. but this is the cincinnati bengals were talking about they think they have a franchise QB, hell they are negotiating w/ marvin lewis still. highly doubt they take a QB in the 1st rd.

100% agree. I saw that there was an ESPN Insider article with Kiper saying that the Panthers might not go QB at #1 because of Clausen. This was very lol to me.

Maybe he just really really digs architectural design.

Peterson is arguably the best secondary prospect since C. Woodson tho.

Lions 100% getting A.J. Green. Everything is falling into place for it to happen lol. Georgia to Georgia/Georgia Tech connections imo.

bengals did take david klingler some years back when esiason was only 31 years old and one year removed from consecutive pro bowl seasons. palmer will be 32.

Isn't CB one of the few positions Carolina has pretty well covered (no pun intended)? If they don't go QB, I would guess they're much more likely to go with AJ Green so Clausen has a legitimate target.

Eh, I don't think this is as likely as it has been in past years. The Panthers just drafted a QB, they have a billion holes, and there really aren't any QBs worthy of the #1 slot (or arguably even a top 10 slot). There are, however, several players at other positions who are excellent prospects. If Luck goes back to school, a QB might still go #1, but I just can't see the Panthers being to the ones to pick Mallett/Newton there.

I'd be stunned if the Panthers don't snap take Luck if he comes out. If they pass on Luck after seeing Clausen and I'll become a Lions fan or something.

If he doesn't come out (FML) I think they'll shop the pick and hope someone falls in love with Newton or Mallett. Assuming they can't do that then I think it'd be Fairley or Peterson in that order.

edit: Kos has the right idea in that it's Luck or no QB for the Panthers at #1. I'd be stunned if they reached on Newton or Mallett.

If the Lions don't take one of the CB's, I would revolt if I was their fan base.

I think Peterson gets overrated a bit because of his return skills. He's certainly physically more impressive, but I think Prince is better in most aspects (ball skills, foot work, hips, instincts) that matter at CB. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Peterson end up at safety in the NFL.

I admittedly haven't seen enough of Prince to evaluate but I do know that it's been a long time since I've seen a college CB so effective as Peterson.

We won't really be able to get a real idea of which one is better until they run the shuttle drill at the combine.

Why lol? It's only his first year.

And if Luck has a bad first year then get another QB? Then another? Please. It's very rare that a QB comes in and does much at all when they start as rookies.

Carolina may trade their 1st round pick.

Draft scouts have given Luck their highest grade since either Elway or Peyton Manning. Jimmy Clausen has shown nothing that even makes the choice a semi difficult decision.

Clausen is terrible, it'd be a disaster to not take Luck.

Yeah, even if played OKish this year the disparity between Luck + Claussen is still too enormous to pass up Luck.

As it is, he played like crap and really shouldn't factor into the super easy decision at #1.
