Seattle Seahawks 2014 - MrWookie

Your 2014 NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks

Spoiler:

Thanks to some horrific coaching by Fat Mike and some phenomenally clutch special teams play, the Seahawks secured their second consecutive NFC championship. Turns out there was another game to play.

Two yards short of a Super Bowl repeat.

I maintain that given the clock, down and distance, calling a pass there was correct, and among the pass plays that could be called, this was a decent choice. This play was 3/3 in producing touchdowns on the year, while running Marshawn up the gut was 5/12. Ricardo Lockette's take on this play is far better than I could do.

It was disappointing, certainly, but having just won, feeling like playing with house money after the NFCCG, and having the core young players locked up for the next few years at least so that the window is still wide open takes the sting off considerably.

Well, all the core young players are locked up, except for one.

I still think this gets inked before camp, however.

Notable Losses:

Have fun in Philly.

Good luck in New Orleans.

Enjoy New York.

Notable Additions!

Cary Williams kinda sucked in Philly, but hopefully a change of scheme and a better supporting cast will do him well. Byron Maxwell was always going to be too expensive.

The under-appreciated hole left by Golden Tate was his special team's prowess. Seattle's special teams were historically elite in 2013 and special needs in 2014. The Seahawks coveted Tyler Lockett for his skills as a WR, but especially also as PR and KR, executing one of the only draft day trades up in the PCJS era. Hopefully this offseason won't feature Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman competing for PR responsibilities.

Uhh, try not to hit any women plz.

And of course...

With the addition of BASKETBALL, the Seahawks have the #1 and #2 most threatening touchdown-makers in the division.

The Seahawks are currently -225 on Bovada to ThreePete as division champions, +bout350 to ThreePete as NFC Champions, and +650 for the Super Bowl.

Approach, bretheren! Let us BEST!

Arizona Cardinals 2015 - steve1238

Pardon my bias up front; although rest assured that I have no axe to grind here regarding Arizona. The Cardinals have proved over the last seven years that the NFL is indeed a league of parity and quick turnarounds. In 2008 they had one of the most explosive offenses in the league, ranking third in scoring, and they rode that and a point differential of +1 all the way to their only Super bowl appearance. Their atrocious defense let them down though as they lost to the Steelers by four points.

Six years later and the Cardinals are a completely remade team under one of the most aggressive defensive-minded coaches in the league. Bruce Arians in just his second year as the Cardinals Head Coach managed an 11 win season, riding the fifth-ranked scoring defense and a +8 turnover ratio (good for fifth in the NFL also) to a 9-1 start and the team’s first playoff berth in five years.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, QB Carson Palmer couldn’t stay healthy and the offense managed a meager 14.5 points in the team’s final 6 games. There wasn’t enough magic in Arians’ defense to prevent a second-half collapse, leading to the loss of home-field advantage and a season-ending 27-16 playoff loss in the Wildcard game at the hands of the Carolina Panthers.

Statistical Leaders
Passing – Stanton 1,711 yards; 7 TDs
Rushing – Ellington 660 yards; 3 TDs
Receiving – Floyd 47 receptions; 841 yards; 6 TDs

2015 Outlook

The Cardinals rewarded Bruce Arians with a two-year extension, hoping that he can continue his success after double-digit wins in his first two seasons. He will again rely on a defense that blitzes aggressively and a secondary that is willing to put their money where Patrick Peterson’s mouth is. Everyone in Arizona is praying that their statue of a quarterback can stay healthy.

Key Players

The Defense again will be spearheaded by star defensive backs Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu. Peterson is one of the top cover corners in the league, and also excels on special teams. Mathieu, known for his tenacity, is an aggressive safety who is a perfect fit for the defense.

The closest thing to reliable the Cardinals have at linebacker is Alex Okafor, who was solid with 8 sacks in 13 games in 2014. Other than Okafor, the front seven has Calais Campbell to be excited about. Campbell had seven sacks and an interception on his way to his first pro bowl.

The Offense will be led by Palmer, assuming he’s healthy. He is likely the second best QB in the division and has the ability to win games with his arm still. Behind him will be Andre Ellington, although he will split time to keep him healthy. Ellington was a darling in fantasy drafts last year, and disappointed every owner that picked him. He didn’t have any 100 yard games and his longest run of the season was a mere 22 yards.

The receiving core will try to make up for the lack of running game. Led by veteran Fitzgerald, who is still effective, Michael Floyd and John Brown will team with newly signed tight end Jermaine Gresham to provide Palmer with a stable of reliable, although not top-tier, targets.

Perhaps the most headline-grabbing change the Cardinals have made won’t make a direct impact on the field. Jen Welter was hired to be an assistant inside-linebackers coach from the Texas Revolution in the Indoor Football League.

On to the photos:

The offense will hope this guy holds up

Maybe the running game will show up?

If not, the receivers will have to

Or it will be all on the defense and Patrick Peterson’s mouth

wow where the **** to even begin. remember when before the season started it was told the niners almost traded harbaugh for the browns entire draft? remember when the niners FO leaked more and more and more about how everyone hated harbaugh?

remember week 2 when the niners blew a 20-7 lead entering the 4th quarter at home on SNF to literally the chicago ****ing bears getting outscored 21-0 in the 4th?

remember when they followed that up with 107 yards in penalties against arizona including a 15 yard thugging by boldin with the game on the line that prevented them from winning?

remember when they got butt****ed by manning on SNF en route to the record?

remember when kaepernick fumbled the ball on a 1 yard qb sneak against the rams the next week that would have won the game?

remember when they got CRUSHED by the RAIDERS?!

remember when they blew a 21 point lead against the chargers?

oh boy was this a fun year

i think this entire season was best summed up by the fact that JONATHAN MARTIN spent a vast majority of it as the starting RT. seriously, **** jonathan martin that soft ass piece of ****. i spent most of the year wishing they'd sign richie incognito solely for him to bully martin into killing himself so i'd never have to see that turnstile 300 pound mass of baby **** pretend to be an nfl player

jonathan martin provided as much protection as a swiss cheese condom on magic johnson while he ****ed you in the ass. actually, now that i think about it that's a pretty appropriate summation of the 2014 49ers season. first you spend the entire year getting ****ed in the ass painfully and brutally, then long after it's done the offseason comes and you find out that SURPRISE!

YOU'VE NOW GOT AIDS!

holy ****ing **** where to even begin

well let's start with this:

this mumbling dumb**** who is barely qualified to break bricks with other bricks is now the head coach of the 49ers. this was a hiring so universally regarded as a complete and absolute joke that vic fangio said he would stay on as the DC if he weren't hired as the HC for whoever the next head coach would be ONLY IF IT WEREN'T JIM TOMSULA. this was a hiring so universally regarded as a complete and absolute joke that 13 different potential offensive coordinators said lol no including whoever coaches the wide receivers for the iggles. they eventually settled on some in-house guy named jeep christ

who the **** is jeep christ you ask? well last year he was the qb coach of a guy who was one of the worst qbs in football. NEAT! 49ers fans spent the last 2 years clamoring for greg roman to get fired because they're ****ing idiots who want RUN THE BAW SMASHMOUF FOOTBAW. well now you get jeep christ. have fun, dip****s

oh but the fun doesn't stop there. they also have a shiny new defensive coordinator

**** YA! THE MANGENIUS!

the niners lost harbaugh, fangio, roman, iupati, culliver, crabtree, gore, willis retired, borland retired, anthony davis retired

The Quarterback:

a lot (see: all) of squidward's failures come with a lol me on this forum. i've attached myself at the hip to a junk bond. and was singing his praises since day 1, something most seemed to think was irrational.

i started actually following football in 1993, the season before the niners won their 5th and final super bowl (and i don't mean final to this date. i mean final PERIOD. i could live to be 5000 years old and i'm confident i'll never see another one in that timeframe, and that in the year 7015 colin kaepernick the 201st will snap the ball and stare down his primary receiver for 11 seconds before throwing it to him in the septuple coverage that has converged around him before looking to the sidelines with his hands raised like HOW THE **** DID THEY KNOW?! **** you colin kaepernick the 201st) and my favorite player ever (still to this point) was steve young, aka the greatest qb in 9ers history.

i'll take this moment to say **** you montana truthers. ya, he was the reason the 9ers won 4 super bowls. he was the reason the 9ers won ONLY 4 super bowls. during his tenure with the 9ers they had cheated their way to arguably the greatest team in history over that period and yet somehow he only led them to 4 super bowls. that's ****ing embarassing. YA WELL MONTANA NEVER LOST A SUPER BOWL AND BARDY LOST THREE! shut the **** up. when you only get to 4 super bowls with a roster that obscenely talented you don't to be praised for your winning percentage. you should be shamed for your losing percentage in the games preceding that one. joe cool? more like joe sucks ass

anyway, steve young was concussed into oblivion in 1999. since his final game this is the list of quarterbacks that have started for the san francisco 49ers:

steve stenstrom (holy **** who in the actual **** is steve stenstrom?)
jeff garcia
tim rattay
ken dorsey
cody pickett
alex smith
trent dilfer
shaun hill
chris weinke (seriously?)
jt o'sullivan
troy smith (holy **** i just remembered this)

look at that list of names and tell me why the **** i shouldn't be excited about colin kaepernick? i admit, i was overexcited, but still. you know how when you're taking swings in the on-deck circle you put a donut on the bat and take a few swings so that when you take the donut off your mind tricks you into thinking the bat is actually lighter than it was before you put the donut on and you theoretically swing it harder? you know how when you spend a few hours at a party full of nothing but 1s when the first 5 shows up your mind tricks you into thinking she's a 10? that's colin kaepernick. kaepernick is the bat after you take off the donut. kaepernick is the 5 you think is a 10 cuz you've seen nothing but 1s

oh and by the way, **** jeff garcia. jeff garcia had this insane following over here cuz that ****ty arm ****face made it as this undrafted pile of **** from the ****tiest school in the bay area and was a local boy from the ****tiest town in the bay area

**** gilroy, california. what a worthless waste of humanity that place is. gilroy is known for 2 things: 1. a ****ty garlic festival that happens once a year (as of this writing it was this past weekend) and some outlet stores. it's one of those worthless nondescript towns you drive through while you're on 101 or 5 driving to some actual major city that you only stop at if you need gas or you haven't eaten for 10 hours and dennys or in n out right off the highway would really hit the spot

this place is a lawless hellhole. its "homeless" people are just people who are too god damned lazy to get jobs, have homes and have decided that begging for money in a low-income town is the most profitable thing to do. and it works cuz the only people stupid enough to give money to a guy on the corner wearing fubu and nikes asking for a dollar is a low income religious person (of which gilroy has a TON) who thinks this will give them a place in heaven. you ****ing morons

i once parked my car in gilroy and returned to it 3 hours later. when i came back i noticed one of my tires slashed, the driver side keyhole smashed (apparently someone tried to break in) and my door keyed. i also noticed a ticket on the front windshield for expired registration. i didn't understand how that was possible til i looked and saw that the mother****er had stolen my registration year tag right off my license plate. and i ****ing got ticketed for that. i appealed the ticket on the basis of my car being vandalized, the tag stolen and my car obviously being registered. my appeal was denied

**** gilrory. **** jeff garcia. **** robert guerrero and his stupid ass loudmouth dad. **** the niners, **** their stupid ass stadium, **** the inevitable final insult of the seahawks winning a super bowl hosted 10 miles away from my apartment, **** jed york, **** super dave baalke, **** jonathan martin, **** richard sherman, **** the virgin wilson, **** drew stanton, **** peyton manning, **** jim tomsula, **** roger goodell, **** the nfl, and now that i'm done writing this, **** all of you reading this

Super quality and truthful hate on gilroy but the garlic is pretty great lol. Sorry about your car srm, pretty absurd your appeal got denied.

This season truly rests on kaps shoulders, which means we're probably screwed. I was also one who was high on kap, so last year was extremely frustrating.

It's hard to describe kap last year. He had some games (the gb game stands out) as a great passer when teams tried to stop the run. So as an observer and fan I feel like the organization was so protective and worried about injury, they had him try to be strictly a pocket passer, which isn't him.

That's the thing, he stayed injury free but the result was ****ty. Just have to let him run wild and see how it plays out.

You could argue defenses also were better at containing the edge and stopping the run.

One question I have is how much did the lack of production from Davis and Crabtree have to do with themselves or kap. It's conflated and hard to understand imo.

Last question I have is how much of an effect did training with Warner have on kap? We 9ers fans have to hope a lot.

Yep. Frustrating, but we've benefited from a lot of players being under sub-market deals, so this is what eventually happens. I still think Bennett and Kam will both be in the fold by 9/13 even if the team holds their ground this time.
