You guys see that Pete did that ice bucket challenge and challenged the other 3 coaches in the Best to do it as well?

They have 24 hours as of yesterday someone to complete it. On a side note, some blogger for the Niners did the challenge (with no ice, btw) and challenged the entire 49ers organization.

I just think it's funny some blogger challenged an entire NFL organization. Why not challenge all of America?

Seahawks rookie DL Cassius Marsh went down at practice yesterday with what looked like might be a bad knee injury. MRI showed just a slight knee sprain. Which is great, because this guy could be a boss. Keep an eye on him this year.

I loved him from the moment that I read that when he was drafted, he was watching The Last Samurai with his pitbull rather than watching draft coverage.

The guy's looking like he could develop into a white Michael Bennett in a year or two.

So... correct me if I'm wrong, but does it seem like this will be another year of "I'm in the red zone... field goal" for the Niners. And if so, will their defense be able to offset that?

I think people are looking too much into a few drives in the preseason. Obviously you'd like to see more consistency on those drives but carlos hyde looks really good, the oline even without boone and their right tackle looks good as well.

also, there's a huge difference offensively between crabtree/lloyd/ellington in 3 wr sets and crabtree/boldin/lloyd or crabtree/boldin/johnson. one of those guys is going to see single coverage and they can exploit it. we should be a lot better in the red zone this year but we'll see.

as far as the defense goes, it depends on how long aldon smith is suspended for and how long wilhoite or borland can man the spot opposite willis. last year we had a 3-4 game stretch of no willis and no smith and our defense still played quite well. we blitzed a bit more, but wilhoite filled in ok in willis' spot last year and lemonier filled in alright for smith. now we have aaron lynch to challenge lemonier for playing time as well and borland challenging wilhoite.

obviously losing pro bowl caliber players hurts and we cant expect matching value out of their replacements, but if we can get what we got last year out of two of the deeper positions the defensive front 7 will still be pretty good.

my biggest concern is replacing whitner with bethea and letting brown go. reid could improve which could offset some of that as well as the 9ers switching schemes a bit to match their personnel changes at corner(cook, johnson are bigger corners). if you believe that culliver is fully healed he was supposed to start last year over tramaine brock, so potentially that spot could be filled too.

i think offensively we should be much, much better than last year and the only way we struggle is if kaepernick hasnt improved in year 3. defensively, we will be worse obviously, but we have the depth and youth to still be a top 10 defense.

Too bad, he doesn't seem like a Dick. Would have liked to see something work out for him at some point. Somehow guys like kaepernick and manziel can stay healthy though.
