It has proven to be a problem for Auburn when Univ of Texas comes calling for coaches.

Pls take Malzahn, guy is great at what he does.

Without bowl practice to worry about, UT can focus full time on turning other teams' hot up-and-coming coordinators into their mediocre coordinators

Supposedly the Gopher AD Maturi hates Leach so that seems unlikely. Personally I would love for the Gophers to grow a pair and hire him. Plus Donald Trump thinks hes great so hes got that going for him.

After many years of success, one bad year and you are gone! Texas does not play around. Many Texas fans will be happy to hear this after this year's woes. Applewhite next in line for OC?

Texas fans have hated Davis for a while as far as I can tell, he just finally got to a spot where the talent couldn't make up for his uninspired playcalling.

Not exactly sure why we switched up the entire scheme after last year. 3rd and 10 and running the ball or throwing 1 yd passes play after player this year really disappointed me...Or sticking with Gilbert after his 5th or 6th interception in ONE GAME!!!

Mike Leach to UF as OC would be epic

highly unlikely but one time plz

He was this close to being fired in 2003, and Mack saved his ass. (Note, he's one of Mack's closest friends and they've been coaching together for a very long time) Then VY and Colt saved him until now.

Also, fairly substantiated rumors have the WR, OL, and S&C coach all leaving the program and/or changing positions.

WR and OL coaches can all be easily replaced. Isn't the S&C coach generally the only one for all athletics?...or since UT is so massive and powerful, he is only the S&C for football? I know we only had one when I was playing sports granted we were a much smaller D1.

...and I couldn't see him taking any blame. That has to be a dream job for any S&C coach. First class facilities, first class athletes, and first class blondies

All of the major universities have a separate one for football, basketball, and women's sports.

That has got to be a sweet gig though...he has been there for awhile, and I know still works and keeps in close contact with many of the pros that have gone through there. How do you get fired as a S&C coach?...generally they leave to move up, but can they get fired based on performance without an entire staff getting the axe?

Anyway, all the coaches bdaddy mentions are ****ing humiliations to my alma mater, who do absolutely nothing easily verifiable for their paychecks. This represents a major political victory for Big Money + The Young Guns over Mack & Mack's Homies, and by God, let us celebrate.

Minnesota should be begging someone like Leach to coach for them.

Seriously, he'd make them insta-relevant. Wait, don't they have an open-air field now instead of the Metrodome? (LOLOLOL 'Sota?)

I feel like every S&C coach I've been aware of has been some ex player they wanted to keep around after he failed out of the NFL 'cause he gave the fanbase warm fuzzies or something.

I will enjoy it if Major Applewhite gets the job of the guy who was too stupid to start Major Applewhite over Dickface McSpleenless-Sucksalot.

Mike Leach is a lot cooler when he's not coaching your team, I suspect.

Ya, srsly. Forward passes are boring. I'll take the good old-fashioned wishbone over that gimmick offense any day.

I mean he's fun to watch- but he's also admittedly indifferent to defense and ******* insane. I've love him as an OC- but as a head coach I suspect the novelty runs out pdq.
