Mike Sanford gone at W. Kentucky. He’ll get snatched up as an OC pretty quickly (he was OC at Boise St and ND. He also recruited Ian Book).

Harbaugh ends his 4th season with a 2-7 record against Ohio State, Michigan State, and Notre Dame

Not sure how much longer this can continue for UM fans.

Mich plays that trio again next year, 2 of the 3 home games. Gotta figure he needs to go at least 2-1 for job security.

Lane is fully aware the initial success Helton (and Sark) had was on the back of his recruits.

i'm not up to speed on all of the recruit ranking sights, but according to 247 USC has had top 5 classes since 2015. ending up with a losing record with that kind of talent has to be bad coaching.

Yay, we now get the 9 months of concern trolling and hot takes about Jim Harbaugh’s job security.

The record is what it is. It ain’t great but it’s the best Michigan is gonna do.

Similar to how plenty of ND people would love to do better than Brian Kelly, especially after he gets his ass whooped by Alabama or Clemson in embarrassing fashion, but you live with him because it’s the best you can do.

Helton got extended last year and they'd have to eat 4 years to fire him.

Mack Brown back to UNC. Damnit

Reading the r/cfb on this hire, it looks like Mack is trying to bring (back to unc) Gene Chizik as his DC and Kliff Kingsbury as his OC. Gene i could see coming but Kliff is gonna have an OC opportunity basically anywhere he wants, don’t see why he would go to unc under Mack ****ing Brown lmao

We turned Lane into a meme years ago and love dunking on him, but the guy can recruit and would make my top 5 of list of guys I'd want working with my young QB. He turned Blake Sims (who? ikr!) into the most prolific single-season passer in Alabama history before this year and got barrels of lemonade out of confirmed lemon Jake Coker as well. Can't imagine how much I'd enjoy the schadenfreude if SC had fired me the way they fired Lane.

Yeah I agree with this post. I can't think of anyone I'd replace him with, at least no one currently on the market, who will recruit at that level.

But you know as well as I that it doesn't matter if your coach is Bill Walsh, your boosters aren't going to sit still and let you keep your job if you're losing to tOSU every single year, even if you're winning 10 games/season otherwise. It's the same everywhere.

At Michigan, basically nobody with influence is wavering at all on Harbaugh. It is a shockingly realistic perspective brought about by the Brady Hoke Experience.

A National Title is such an unrealistic expectation in this current era.

There are 6 coaches now coaching who have actually done it and 2 of them are at lolKansas and lolUNC.

If anybody thinks Michigan should have done better over this 4 year stretch, give me a name of who can do it better before trolling with "Harbaugh can't beat OSU, gotta fire him"

And lol Mack Brown, maybe ESPN can rehire Holtz and we can pretend the last 3 years of College Football Final never happened

Yeah don't hold your breath waiting for this answer. These decisions are emotional a huge % of the time, scurred ADs thinking they have to do SOMETHING! ANYTHING! Otherwise they're the ones being shown the door. The aforementioned firing of Lane Kiffin is an excellent example of this phenomenon. Bill Curry is another one from my youth, hell there are countless other examples.

I personally hope he's in Ann Arbor for the next decade at least, not because I'm a fan or give a **** whether or not he beats tOSU but because I truly believe cfb is better with him around.

I am left with the horrifying conclusion that someone must have listened to Mac Brown on television and thought, “I’ve gotta’ hire this man.”

The Saban era at Bama has pretty much ruined everything. Everyone wants the next Saban and the fan base gets upset when their new hire doesn’t turn into him in a few years. Doesn’t make any sense.

In college football, where recruiting is king, success breeds success--if you don't **** it up.

Saban's real talent is not ****ing up things that work.

I think Mac Brown was an up and coming coach at UNC back when Michigan was a semi-serious national title contender. But why he wants to coach again makes no sense to me.
