Cal bungled that one. As soon as Monk drilled the three to put them down 1 with 38 left he has to call timeout. Allowing Jackson to get a runout and a bucket there is inexcusable. That three changes the complexion of the game so much you have to call TO and reset the game.

Helluva game UK fans. I think I actually would have rooted for them if they won. Seems like a really likeable team. Not their fault Cal is a scumbag
If there is one BS I've hated hearing it is one and dones don't care and are just stopping by for the NBA. Now maybe a few have (Archie Goodwin, Daniel Orton) but most really do care.

I think it was mainly Cal's first few teams with the way they acted on the court who were total prima donnas and the Harrison's who sucked yet played over Booker and Ullis that made me hate UK to another level. His 2012 team and this team all seem like good guys. Losing in the E8 in 2011 didn't help

Playing UK for the F4 is always brutal to watch and go through. If UNC ever plays dook in the tourney I'm making sure I pass out at half time

6.5 does seem like good value. SC seems like a better version of WVU. Although maybe I am overrated SC and they have played over their heads so far in the tournament.

I really like the UNDER in that game. Nobody can shoot at FF venues.

Question: Did Maye travel before the shot?

No. I didn't realize that would even potentially be a dispute

Rupp's Rafters are concentrating on the refs cheating for UNC, the travel/walk by Luke, Monk fouled on the 3 pointer and of course our academic cheating scandal. I guess I'd feel the same way if UK won.

Refs called it close IMO and were too involved early. Felt bad for Fox/Monk but **** happens. Hilarious part is both teams had career highs from unknown white "stiffs." Roy trusted his white guy at the end of the game. UNC goes on a 12 point run after Hump sits for some reason after missing 1 shot.

Both teams had starters play like **** and scrubs play like stars. Obviously would have been better for both teams if this was later in the tourney. Oregon is ****ing good but hopefully UNC's experience last year in Houston will help with the stadium effect.

I just got home and watched this. Figured with not that many posts on the last page - must be a boring finish. I start fast-forwarding toward the inevitable NC slow-bleed win after they go up 6 or w/e.

Holy crap.

Some final thoughts, I think UNC is the better team. UNC ran cold from threes and had some terrible turnovers. If they had played like they had against Purdue I don't think this game is close. The reason this stings is because this was right there to win

Maye may have been the hero, Jackson the leading scorer, but to me the clear MVP was Meeks. He was the reason Fox had trouble driving to the hoop, and had 17 rebounds.

Will be rooting for anyone but UNC. Mostly just because I like to see teams that have never won it before (or not in 78 years) win it. But I think UNC rolls.

So looks like UK is losing 7 players (3 of them actually seniors! [two from KY who actually contributed!]). I guess Gabriel and Humphries will get minutes, but I wouldn't be shocked to see UK back to starting 5 freshman (Quade Green, Hamidou Diallo, Kevin Knox, Nick Richards, Homahed Bamba).

Also, I'm not blaming the refs...but if John Higgins never refs a UK game again in the tourney I would be quite happy...here is a complete list of games Higgins has reffed UK in the tourney

(2005 EKU 2010 Cornell)
2017 UNC
2015 Wisconsin

2011 UConn

2005 Michigan St (I don't remember any egregious calls that game, but it was 12 years ago)

That is 4 of the most painful losses in my fandom. Once again, I'm not blaming the refs. But at the same time **** that guy.

Higgins is terrible for every team. No idea why he's allowed to ref.

Yep and he actually made the same mistake twice by not calling time out after the tying three. He acknowledged his mistake on the second one though in the press conference.
