6th foul makes no sense unless they change the game to 48 minutes (which I hope they don't). foul per 8 minutes to foul out seems to be the sweet spot for NBA and NCAA.
03-20-2017 , 06:33 PM
The majority of that extra eight minutes goes to bench players though, not starters. I imagine the average NCAA and NBA starter both play around 30 minutes per game.
03-20-2017 , 06:39 PM
Plz no don't add 8 minutes
03-20-2017 , 08:16 PM
48 minutes would be absolutely awful. teams are playing 7 man rotations as is, who wants to see 80 more player-minutes going to less good bench players?

Lead whole game, lose on free throws when up by one with one sec left. God damnit, don't even get the Illinois at home consolation prize.

Any chance any sports books don't account for the team fouls resetting in these NIT games and don't lower the o/u?

No. And it's not the sports books dumbassery to depend on, as gamblers are well aware and are putting it into place anyways when need be

man coaching searches such fun

Umass scooped Kelsey from Winthrop. He was in the mix for some bigger P5 jobs so I'm pretty pumped to get him. Seems like a great dude and this video has me ready to march into combat with him

Marial Shayok and Jarred Reuter transferring from Virginia. Reuter I kind of expected, Shayok really surprises me. I'm sad about that one. I was thinking he could be our go-to scorer next year.

UVA will be just fine with Jay Huff and De'andre Hunter. They are apparently fantastic.

every redshirt in the history of redshirts has been the best player in practice

i agree that i was a little surprised shayok left, but honestly, i don't think he was going to see a lot of playing time next year. he saw spotty playing time throughout this year and didn't even start vs florida after having the game of his career two days before. he could do well driving vs smaller teams but faded away vs top teams who were taller and quicker and his offense became much more limited, and he had his share of defensive lapses like letting villanova tip in the winning shot when he was right there. he would continue to be a role player with limited minutes, and with hunter coming was likely to see less playtime not more, and i think he knows that.

very true, though since these guys were decent recruits, they just may be

In a dark day for Big East and Syracuse fans alike, JT3 is out at Georgetown
03-23-2017 , 02:56 PM
Tommy Amaker to Georgetown, right?

jfc, now Darius Thompson is transferring from UVa.

Paging Michael Porter Jr. You will get lots of playing time.

EDIT: Maybe Thompson is leaving to coach Georgetown to keep the Thompson lineage intact.

Tony Bennett has informed some of his players of his intention to take the IU job. ha jk. Though he is in play. The AD and Alford power boosters were shocked at the backlash on Alford and very surprised to talk to prominent HS/AAU coaches in Indiana to find out not everyone is a big fan. Starting to feel like Alford may not happen. Bennett getting a lot of mention now, Mack picking up some steam as well.

I think the transfers from UVa are simply because of playing time (really talking about Shayok and Thompson here - Reuter was pretty much a given), but it still makes me sad.

There are four open scholarships now. I would think Bennett will go for a graduate transfer with at least one, which he doesn't normally do, because he's going to need some depth for next season PLUS filling all the scholarships with high schoolers or undergrad transfers will result in a huge imbalance in years to come.

I think he'll also go after Porter Jr. hard, even though he tends to not go for one-and-done's. UVa is on Porter's list and is the best program of the bunch and his best friend is Man Bun. Getting him would have all the obvious benefits plus the ones I mentioned with grad transfers.

I think Porter is a long shot because a) his dad, b) he could still go to Washington, and c) Bennett's slow paced system, but I hope it's not an impossibility.

If the scholarships can get filled with quality players one way or another and they are spaced out fairly well so as not to have a huge imbalance one year, the team is still in great shape in the long-run, even if the short-term is hurt.

Feel like I got trolled more than dlk reading this post. Rekt.

I won't say I'm not at all concerned about Bennett leaving, but it's not something that's keeping me up at night. I really don't see him bolting. Whenever a Big Ten/Midwest job opens, his name always comes up.
