not sure what Tad Boyle has to work with this year though - roster seems a little light compared to past seasons. but rest assured he'll get the most out of whatever they can do.
Around these parts, there is some tempered optimism that this UNLV team will be awesome this year. They have completely overhauled their roster with several highly-touted recruits. They also may have finally found a real PG with senior transfer (from San Francisco) Cody Doolin. However, it remains to be seen if they can find any chemistry which has been a real problem with Dave Rice's teams since he got here.
UK has such a weird roster construction that them struggling early wouldn't be surprising at all to me. If there was ever an offense that should exclusively chuck low-percentage 3s and chase offensive rebounds, this is it.
We've got a new batch of transfers to fill the void of Kane and Ejim leaving and Fred Hoiberg knows how to get the most out of them.
be prepared to be irritated with Bryce Dejean-Jones at least 3 times a game. he is a guarantee to chuck up multiple rushed 3 pointer bricks or get charging fouls after wild, out of control drives to the basket.
Fred does a pretty good job of getting guys to buy into the team concept. And BDJ is going to find himself with some pretty good players around him so he shouldn't feel like he has to do everything.
re: Bryce Dejean-Jones - I hope so because BDJ has been a bit of a "me first guy" and a bad teammate (fights in the locker room) from what I've seen/heard. But he does play with passion (albeit wildly at times) which I do like. This is his 3rd team in his college career and hopefully Fred Hoiberg can get his head straight for his senior year and he can close out his college career on a good note.
Seems like one of the most interesting years in college bball in a long while. Lots of teams look really freaking good with title potential. Tar Heels are finally gonna be a legit contender again. First time I've felt excited in 3 seasons about UNC bball. Brice Johnson up to almost 230 pounds after arriving as a 187 pound Freshman. Kennedy Meeks down in the high 260 range after arriving at like 330 or something embarrassingly awful for an 18 year old one year ago. No more McAdoo!!! Isaiah Hicks should be almost as athletic, but hopefully has an actual bball iq for the game and can make free throws. Justin Jackson is gonna be a stud. Joel Berry gonna be >>>Nate Britt (who now shoots right handed).
I plan on doing a lot of fading of Marquette this year or at least early on until books catch on to what a tragic hire and how awful of a bball coach Wojo actually is.
Also I usually hate the hell out of whatever team ended UNC's previous season, but Iowa St and Hoiberg are awesome. He put a clinic on Roy during the last 5 minutes of that game. Have nothing but respect
GL to all minus dook, UK, and lol Bill Self
