IT injury change the draft calculus at all for Celts? Wife is an RN and said "that's a tough injury to come back 100% from" (lol source)

Looks like Serge back to Tor for about 20 per, years not known yet.

A team resigning a guy they traded for midseason should always be the expectation.

It doesn't change who they draft, but it probably affects Ainge's willingness to trade someone to create playing time for Fultz. There are some Celtics fans who want to trade IT because they think Boston has zero chance at a title with him at PG and this injury hurts his trade value. If there is any GM who would be willing to trade Thomas after the season he had, Ainge is the guy, but this injury kills whatever return he could get.

Masai's interview after the Cavs series did signal there would be some changes though.

It could be like Nene in Denver where he just re-signed him because it was better than losing him for nothing and then he deals him later.

I said I thought they should just pay to bring everyone back, try to get someone to take Carroll's contract. Maybe deal Val as well. Play young guys more. Win 52 games, lose to LeBron rd 2.

Celts would have a better case for blowing it up than Toronto, atleast they get to restart with Brad/Brown/Fultz. Tor is restarting with basically nothing but like Poetl and Powell.

I wonder how many GMs call Vlade daily just to check in
05-21-2017 , 05:38 PM
When I heard about the ibaka deal I figures it was 20 million total for 2 or 3 years since he's 42 years old.

Have almost no words for 20 million per year, other than lolraps.

The Spurs have only missed the playoffs 4 times since joining the league in 1976. And 2 of those times they won the lottery in the David Robinson and Tim Duncan years.

Also:

Quote:
Toward the end of an early September 2007 pickup game involving Spurs and visiting free agents, Ginobili dove through three players to retrieve a loose ball and flung it to a teammate. That player scored, and Popovich, watching, stopped the scrimmage even though it wasn’t over.

He gathered everyone and asked them: "What does that play mean to you?" Popovich told them Ginobili wanted to win more than anyone on the floor, and that if the Spurs wished to repeat after their 2007 title, they would all need to play that hard. Popovich walked away, and everyone thought the speech was over. Suddenly, he turned: "And Manu: It’s f—-ing September. Never do that again in September."

Meh I don't think 20M/yr is an overpay for Serge, it's less than he was making before counting for cap inflation. Even if he's a couple years older it's not that bad.
05-23-2017 , 02:25 PM
Might not look good in a few years but not the hardest guy to deal either. Unlike say LMA, Serge has replaced long 2's with 3's which helps his usefulness as he gets older.
05-23-2017 , 02:37 PM
Pretty sure Serge ages in Mercury years.

I agree, def not worth quibbling at the margins when you gave up two assets as well.

Also a guy who will largely retain his value with 'name' oriented GMs/orgs like od2d alluded to.

will be funny when Lowry walks but the Raps keep Serge at $20M/year anyway

Thats because he was paid before when he was good and before he started his 4 year and counting decline

I'd say 20MM/yr for someone who can be the 3rd best player on a championship team is ok but I don't really think Ibaka can meet that requirement. But if raptors just plan on coasting through the middle of the east ready to rebuild and think he is an ok character guy that should be a tiny net positive, maybe its enough.

So it's only a $25 bet and I'm not a accusing anyone of anything, but has anyone heard from nit3.runn3r or know he changed his name or anything? It's been a while since the season ended and multiple PMs later. Again, I know it's not a big $ figure but I've paid out a bunch of $25+ bets, some to people who'd completely forgotten they were owed money if I hadn't reached out with them to pay them. Not accusing anyone of anything just curious. Thanks

Turkey has issued an arrest warrant for Kanter for being a member of a terror group.

How is Erdogan being a part of these NATO things not more in the news? We need to sanction Turkey heavily
