While neither is a good defender at least DD isn't sub terrible (his defense can also be hid on the other teams #2 wing scorer, where PGs almost always matchup vs each other). Positional Scarcity is another argument, DD is a top 2 SG and Thomas isn't in the top 6 and probably in the top 8 for PGs. IT is having a better season this year than DD, but going forward I would take DD.

There are like 5 or 6 good SGs in the NBA right now and a bunch of meh or flawed ones. There's about 15 pretty good to great PGs and another bunch of decent ones after that.

IT2 is sweet and all but he's super short and terrible on D. I think the Celtics would be better with an IT2 for Melo swap, and maybe DDR though that has a lot to do with the C's fit

Looks like they are going heavy after forwards and bigs, especially bigs with range. Every 6'9+ guy with range seems to be on the lists. Also they note that they would consider trading Gordon for Saric.

Isn't Saric worth more than Gordon? Gordon seems to suck imo.
