The northwestern coach post game interview is just A+ stuff

Also liked Lebron saying FU to the Leauge. Literally getting drunk and just clowning around on the bench. Awesome, maybe something will come of theirs + warriors protest.

Yeah Hardens done it twice this season too. First time consecutive nights I believe though. Unless the announcers were lying.

It’s true. The Earth is flat. The Earth is flat. Yes, it is. Listen, there are three ways to manipulate the mind — what you read, what you see and what you hear. In school, first thing they teach us is, ‘Oh, Columbus discovered America,’ but when he got there, there were some fair-skinned people with the long hair smoking on the peace pipes. So, what does that tell you? Columbus didn’t discover America. So, listen, I drive from coast to coast, and this s*** is flat to me. I’m just saying. I drive from Florida to California all the time, and it’s flat to me. I do not go up and down at a 360-degree angle, and all that stuff about gravity, have you looked outside Atlanta lately and seen all these buildings? You mean to tell me that China is under us? China is under us? It’s not. The world is flat.”

It's actually hard to behave in a more disgraceful manner. You're right it's an fu to the league but it's also an fu to the game of basketball. Just pitiful.

They were, Russ has b2b 40/10/10 two weeks ago

It wasn't on consecutive nights

His games were two days apart - 2/26 and 2/28. Not that it really makes any difference though, but technically Harden is the first to do it on consecutive nights as opposed to consecutive games.

Not sure I've seen this discussed here - to the extent you are resting stars, does it make more sense to do it against a better or worse opponent.

Advantage of resting vs. bad team is you could still win, it doesn't matter to your seeding if they lose (although this doesn't matter in intraleague games other than finals home court advantage).

Advantage of resting vs. good teams seems to be that its a game you might still lose even with A team, plus you're likely going to have to play your stars big minutes to win, whereas you could blow out bad team (thus getting more like 1.5 games rest).

From a pure wins standpoint seems not clear which is better - if you rest vs. good team, you're likely to get like .95 expected wins (<10% chance of beating good team with scrubs + >90% chance of beating bad team). Resting vs. good team seems harder to tell as no clue how often Cavs B team beats Lakers (I could see argument that it would be still 50%+).

It would depend on where you are in the standings. Resting vs the good team increases your chances of going 1-1 by killing your chances of going 2-0 but also decreasing the chance of going 0-2, while resting vs the bad team increases the extreme outcomes.

If you're already the #1 seed, going 0-2 is worse than going 2-0 is good.

I think that wasn't the calculus for the Cavs here, though, they were going to rest the first game either way because of Kyrie's knee getting tight last game, and once you decide to sit Kyrie might as well sit everyone.

Assumptions made partly out of my ass, partly using betting odds :

Probability of beating LAC full strength : 45%
Probability of beating LAC w/o big 3 : 15%

Probability of beating LAL full strength : 85%
Probability of beating LAL w/o big 3 : 55%

In case they rest the big 3 then play them vs the Lakers, they'd have 12.75% to win 2, 74.5% to win 1 and 12.75% to win 0. Expected wins = 1

In case they play big 3 vs LAC and rest them vs Lakers they'd have : 25% to win 2, 50% to win 1 and 25% to win 0 Expected wins = 1

Looks like the right decision. It seems like the EV is around the same but you're also giving yourself a lot more chance to win 1 (at the expense of chances of winning 2) which is more important when you're already the #1 seed and are more concerned with preserving it with few games left. And that's not even factoring in factors like tiredness (it's probably going to affect their body more to play 40 intense and competitive minutes vs the clippers rather than 30 vs the lolakers)

lol at thinking Tyron lue had anything close to this kind of thought process

Loved the Lebron antics tho on the bench
Hoping Durant is injured and he wins another
03-19-2017 , 01:08 PM
he had a very similar thought process but without the numbers, which makes sense because the numbers are completely made up

Imagine if lebron did that first couple of years of trbig3 era. They'd have given Rose the MVP in 2012 as well

I'm pretty sure he's just smashing buttons and doesn't have a thought process

Could be wrong

skal labissiere hasn't really had a bad game off the bench since dmc got traded - looking really good. potential issues include that he's obviously running very good on jumpers, but he's at least getting fouled a bit, rebounding ok, and blocking shots

lots of decent signs for a guy who'd shown zero before

The warriors are pathetic, exhibit #99

who in their right mind expected okc to throw Durant a welcoming party?

Don't forget that he tries to murder anyone who gets in his path when he dunks. He's really fun to watch.

Not sure what article you're reading. They mentioned it would have been nice to have a statement in the media thanking Durant for 9 years of service. Which should be standard for a team with a shred of dignity.

I agree as a bastion of class and one of the best organization in sports, they shouldn't expect ****holes like OKC to have a fraction of the integrity.
03-20-2017 , 09:21 AM
What the **** do they care? Why would that be nice? It's a pathetic look from a pathetic group of primadonnas.

I'm guessing their PR strategy is something along the lines of "anything that can distract attention from us blowing a 3-1 lead"
