54.0% TS% for his career (roughly 55th percentile for SFs).

Do some research on year to year 3 point variance.

Ilyasova for Splitter + 2 second round picks.

Both are expiring and salaries match so it looks like Sixers gained another two 2nd rounders for effectively nothing.

Ilyasova was actually pretty good for them. Him + Embiid (+8.2 net rating) were basically the sole reasons sixers won games. Going to be hard to win games now for them. race for the worst record against the lakers is on

His 1st couple of months were very bad with his shooting but he's gotten it back recently, but his defense is legit and if Simmons is good enough to be a primary ball handler he's a perfect guy to have next to him given his defensive versatility in that he is 6'9, long and defends 1 through 4 depending on what's necessary and is happy being a low usage spot up/cutter guy. 4/80 isn't going to happen but he's a lot more valuable than the impression sort by b-ref would give you.

Arsen Ilyasov really gets around
02-22-2017 , 08:42 PM
I'd love to know the Hocks reasoning for that trade.

I'd do it for the mini-mle.
02-22-2017 , 08:42 PM
Well, what do you think he will get? I was making the point he'll get paid a lot as a justification for trading him anyway. And 2 playoffs of a 3+D swingman making league minimum would net solid value from a contender.

Windhorst reported it's a 2nd and a 2nd round swap. Hopefully it's the Nets 2nd and a swap of the Warriors 2nd for the Hawks 2nd. Great deal regardless and gives me slightly more faith in Colangelo.
02-22-2017 , 08:44 PM
Well I think he's not great and being massively overrated by the lol6er fans ITT, so I'd def trade him now to a contending team that can use a 1 way wing defender who had some success shooting the ball 3 years ago.
02-22-2017 , 08:44 PM
Maybe they could bundle 6 second rounders for a lottery pick?
02-22-2017 , 08:45 PM
I really like Roco and think a lot of his poor shooting is because he takes so many contested shots, but I would be very worried at offering him a long-term deal for big money. Either way I think you can pencil him in as a positive player, a near elite defender who in the past has shot well... Maybe like a poor man's Danny Green?

I'd rather give him a short deal for massive money if that's what it took to keep him.

Chicago has continued to push on a trade for 76ers center Jahlil Okafor, league sources tell @TheVertical. Discussions continue.
feel like this could end up as one of those lose/lose deals

If Philly manages to get Chicago's first (haven't looked if they own it) for Jahill it's going to be a huge win for them
02-22-2017 , 08:51 PM
Damn windy dunked on wojbomb. It's a swap

I looked into this false narrative a few months back. He's taking a larger % of open shots than last year (and almost an identical percentage of wide open shots to two seasons ago when he shot 37.4%).

The actual reason is that 3 point shooting is extremely high variance and can fluctuate significantly year to year.

It's ironic you brought up Danny Green because his last season is pretty solid evidence when he shot 33.2% (7.2% worse than his career average). I'm guessing a lot of people tried to generate plenty of narratives then as well but sure enough, he's back up to 40.5% this year.

Covington is shooting 2.7% worse than his career average this season - an extremely normal fluctuation.

There's prob no amount of 2nd round picks you could give for a lottery pick - tho a late lottery pick is almost assuredly worth less than 1/30 a second

Nets have 13 second round picks in the next five drafts (2017 to 2021). Four of those thirteen are a 'more favorable of two options' and every one of those options contains at least one super-awful team (NYCx2, SAC, BRK).

The value of those 13 second rounders is collectively pretty high. Even if they just trade them all away to marginally move up their actually impactful first round picks, being able to move up a few spots over and over in every single draft is a big deal. If I'm the sixers that's what I would focus on with that glut of picks.
02-22-2017 , 09:07 PM
Those 13 sixers second round picks over the next five drafts are gonna mostly be very early second rounders. Best guess based on projected standings would be

* 4 of their own picks
* 5 from NYK
* 2 from BRK
* 2 from SAC
* 1 from Golden State

that's a lot of very high second round picks

I was under the impression that Ilyasova has sucked for some time now,

is that still correct?

He went on a bit of a heater when he got to Philly then went back to sucking. Pretty sweet at taking charges tho.

No he has been fine, if he is coming off your bench you should be happy

From Woj's piece on the Ilyasova trade: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources...010647441.html

Quote:
Philadelphia has continued discussions on trading center Jahlil Okafor, league sources said. Talks with the Chicago Bulls were continuing Tuesday night, with the Bulls working to persuade the 76ers to accept forward Nikola Mirotic as part of a trade package, league sources said.

This argument has been made before. Anything other than feels to support it?

I would think bad teams would want to do only two things: get good players, get players who can become good. I'm thinking of the Utah model here where players fit and can grow together over a period of years.
02-22-2017 , 10:40 PM
I'm not a Sixers fan by any means (becoming one because lol Knicks) but Playstation Vue shows their games for some reason even though I'm in an NY market, and they're fun to watch so I watch them quite a bit.

I actually really like Covington. But this is the problem with the NBA. Covington is a nice player whose done really well with the Sixers and been probably their best player whose actually played regularly during the process. But giving guys like Covington 4/80 is what immediately hamstrings teams and makes them bad. And I don't doubt that someone will give him that but it definitely shouldn't be the Sixers
02-22-2017 , 10:59 PM
i'm not a rubo fan but i think i could talk myself into trading him for rose as long as knicks didn't need to give up anything

if jackson decides to keep him around it could limit the damage he inflicts on the franchise this summer, if it goes great we might be able to reflip him... maybe it even helps run carmelo out of town
