As dood said, there wasn't really any better options. There was no one available who really moved the needle much from a closing lineup of dame/cj/crabbe/aminu/big.
I guess they could have paid up for a biyombo, but I don't know if the marginal value of biyombo over mason/festus/davis/Leonard is more than the marginal value Turner brings over crabbe/harkless/other wing depth

Turner is worse than Crabbe and Harkless IMO, even ignoring that those guys have more potential to grow as players. But I don't like Turner.
As I said at the time, Gerald Henderson got 2/18 from Philly or something. He's as good if not better than Turner and played for them last year. Even if you think Turner is better that's certainly a much better contract. So I disagree there weren't other options either.
