Hot take : schroeder is trash and paying him 70M to be your starting point guard is a bad move
10-31-2016 , 10:35 PM
IDK how hot an obviously correct take is

Wolves extend Gorgui for 4/64.

I've been firmly in the "let Gorgui walk" camp but that's a pretty great extension imo.

Rubio

Is there word on how long he's out??
11-01-2016 , 12:38 AM
Was Paul Pierce sitting on the bench dressed as Rick James posted itt?

Knight with 0rebs and 0 assists in 31mins, LOL

Salty. Denver has shown that they are every bit as good as teams like Portland and Toronto but mike Malone keeps riding the same lineup in the end until they break.

Maybe I missed the discussion but seems like the Jazz really ****ed up the signing of Gobert. Saved one million to give up future cap flexibility. Basic stuff.

Just locking up Gobert seems like a win imo.

Nah they are capped out unlike the Thunder. Minnesota I can see because it was such a bargain, they still have max room, and gorgie is imo kinda underrated.

Plus theoretically their ceiling is higher than OKCs.

Ya I meant the way they did the contract, not the actual signing, but it's confusing

If Rudy hits RFA then he's signing a 3+1 max rather than a 4 year deal for slightly less. Considering Gordon's very likely to walk this offseason because he signed a 3+1...

Quote:
Rudy Gobert, Utah Jazz: The Utah big man is reportedly getting a four-year, $102 million deal, according to The Undefeated.

Steven Adams, Oklahoma City Thunder: Oladipo's teammate is reportedly getting a four-year, $100 million extension, according to The Vertical.

Gorgui Dieng, Minnesota Timberwolves: The 21st overall pick of the 2013 draft has signed a four year, $64 million deal, according to The Vertical. He has turned into a solid complimentary player for the young 'Wolves, averaging a double-double early in the season.

Cody Zeller, Charlotte Hornets: The fourth overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, Zeller is has agreed to a four-year, $56 million deal, according to The Vertical.
I think all these deals are about right. Nobody to laugh at.

I think Oladipo's deal was bad tho

Yeah it would have gotten quite sketchy with signing Gordon Heyward if someone made an offer for Rudy and/or they didn't extend Favors.

Adams signing was fine after the signing of Dipo, which I've already panned.

Very happy with the Gorgui signing, its very easy to build around and to move.

I dunno about the contracts, but I was watching a bit of the OKC-Lakers. I think Dipo is a pretty good fit. OKC is a scramblin' emotional team. Basically, they are westie, he accounts for like 70% of their offense. Dipo moves fast on D, runs, beeps around smoothly, handles the ball, bricks a lot of shot...he fits right in, and he is ice to westie's fire.

Since the 5 spot is set with Adams and Kanter, they need a 3 and a 4. A guy like Crowder at the 3, but who can shoot the 3! well that is a HOFer, but a strong athletic 3 who can defend. and a great stretch 4. That's a team that could contend assuming westie can keep up the pace for the next 4 years.

But they know what they got, they know who they are, they know who leads them, they know what they need.

like a bender from the suns or a chriss, they got two of what OKC could use at the 4.

OKC needs to find someone like that to fit in. and a Crowder/ DeMarre Carroll/ stanley johnson type.

Idk Dipo needs to get better at off ball and shooting period since Westie's usage is through the roof. Obviously if they got a great 3D guy and stretch 4 it would matter less, but you could say that about like 27 teams
11-01-2016 , 11:10 AM
yeah, Dipo struggles with the shot. Still he can run and score and play d. I know my take was kinda silly, but I do think it's good they are set at 3 positions and at least have that one identity, westie, to build off of.

idk where they find their upgrades, but Sabonis seems like one day he could be a good hustler off the bench, although he hasn't shown me anything on the court. he just seems that way and they are starting him so he must have shown them something. Or they just have nothing. Which they do. Robertson, morrow, that singler...

so, what are the odds Demar finishes top 10 in MVP voting this year?
11-01-2016 , 01:34 PM
Can't Dipo also play some backup PG / shoulder some offensive load for 10 minutes a game when Russ is on the bench? His shot also isn't broken, there's no reason he can't be at least reasonable from set shots. Matter of coach prioritizing that.
11-01-2016 , 01:40 PM
I like the Bulls being so good because it runs so contrary to current / 2+2 NBA thinking. Are their guards and wings just running hot on 3? Or are they just good enough defensively and, actually, having a bunch of guys that can penetrate and pass good enough even when you only have 1 or so knockdown shooter in the game?

They have the 3rd best 3pt shooting in the league, but their starting lineup is shooting at 33.3 (that's with Rondo, Wade, Butler, Taj, Lopez), which is about what I'd expect. But all their backup lineups include a couple of Ouggie, Mirotic, and some shampoo model guy named Cristiano Felicio and are killing it.

Jerami Grant traded to thunder for Ilyasova. I like it a lot for the thunder, don't hate it as much as I should for the sixers

grant has worked hard and made himself an nba player. now he goes to a situation where he really has a chance to contribute. he had no shooting ability really at all, but in 2 years now is something of a threat from 3, not a great threat, but still has the quickness, big first step, athleticism, length. what if he is the sf i was talking about?

crowder, carrol those 2 needed time to develop. could be!

looks like the bulls' starters are shooting ~48% from 3 so far? butler 6/11, rondo 1/5, wade 5/9, taj/lopez no attempts. also even aside from the 3pt shooting it's worth noting that the celtics and pacers were on road b2bs vs the bulls. the pacers also barely beat dallas and lost to the nets so they aren't exactly killing at the moment. but i do agree it's possible that they can scrounge together enough offense to solid

edit: lowe said the thunder sent a protected first for grant
