NBA Season Thread 2016-2017 NBA Season Thread 2016-2017

Friends, it has been a long time. I have been in slumber as my physical form left the NBA. Now we have been rejoined on the spiritual plane and the oneness has brought new consciousness as your voices came to me in the night. I am here. We are one.

But where is here? How did we get here?

Ah yes, it is all coming back to me now.

The Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the finals.

Wow.

73-9. Home court. Even I could not have forseen it.

And now?

Well.

Just another quiet offseason friends. Not at all like the last few huge offseasons like Lebron returning to Cleveland after leaving to form a Super Team. Because anyone who leaves to form a Super Team, especially an MVP, we now know gets villified Surely no one would do that again.

Right?

I knew something powerful had to awake me.

So where are we?

Ah yes.

BEHOLD! I bring to you a season so rich, so full of intrigue, you can't help but wait for the ending. But, as our dear friends in Philly know, it's a process. Or, it was. Wait.

BEHOLD! The NBA awaits. Let us not rush to the end. For endings are never known. Surprises abound, just ask the Heat tho won not 3, not 4, not 5 titles.

Yes amigos, the story will surround two franchises. But others look to make waves.

One says goodbye to a legend.

But let us not forget how close they were to home court last year.

Another team hopes to get healthy

While another two prepare to grow

An upstart from the North hopes to win just two more games vs. the Cavaliers upon the return of their big man

And a young coach has his team get a year better with the addition of a new leader

And a proud franchise flails

Meanwhile, three of our own with direct influence behind the scenes in Toronto, Milwaukee and Philadelphia. Exciting times for those of us with history here. New processes abound in today's NBA.

What else will the future bring my friends?

I can't spoil it for you.

But, I can tell you to expect drama, surprises, burritos and good waves.

Let us NBA!

It really sucks so many dumb and wrong cliches surround the NBA. Life is just so much better when you can NBA than when you can't. So many people missing out on an amazing product.

Don't forget, it's not too late to get in an entry in the NBA PEEHS contest!

Anybody who lurks or posts in this thread should take 5 minutes to make an entry.

It'll be another fun way to follow the NBA as the season goes along.

Entries lock at tip-off Wednesday night!

My favorite ones are:

"No defense played in the NBA, college is better"... LOOOOL

But the absolute worst is:

"You don't even need to watch the game until the last 5 minutes"

Maybe that's because unlike other sports the games actually matter in crunch-time.

Let us NBA

We need some more CAPTAIN BINKLES and/or MJW breakdowns. A season with them is a good one.

Besides the top 3 and bottom 2, everyone in the East seems to be very bunched together in terms of preseason ranking right now. All projected in that 37-44 range. Definitely think a few of the teams ahead of them in the East are going to regress (Cha, Mia, ATL) but then a few others should be better.
I'm hopeful that the Pistons bench can give the starters a bit more rest this year.

Ish/Beno/Stanley/Leuer/Baynes is definitely an upgrade.

And, although the starters played a ton of minutes last year, the Pistons are one of the youngest teams in the league. Beno is the only player that is 30 or older. Not much long-term mileage on the team.
