I would think for the guys they would be giving up that they could get some picks without much protection on them, and then you atleast can gamble that a team crashes and burns like the Nets did.

If you're not re-signing IT/AB for big $ then I'd deal them sooner than later, and once you do that then keeping Horford/Crowder is kinda pointless.

I guess if you wanna keep all of them and keep trying to win while hoping the young guys can be ready in 3-4 years then it makes sense, but I think you are capping that 3-4 year upside possibility by not unloading earlier.

Ainge always said he thought the Celts should've unloaded Bird/McHale earlier and then did so with KG/Pierce. It isn't like that team couldn't have competed the next year with Rondo coming back. Also dealt Antoine after '03 and chose to rebuild (which was kinda useless since any team with Pierce on it wasn't going to bottom out, luckily he made his mid-late 1st rd picks hit which helped net KG) And the best teams in the East then were the Nets and Pistons, hardly LeBron's Cavs.

I don't see why this is a problem for Boston. They are set up to be at-worst very good right now with MAJOR upside in the future. They are like the only team that can have their cake and eat it. Just because no other team has really ever set themselves up to have both feet in the contending/rebuilding waters doesn't mean Boston should follow. Those teams didn't have the combination of players/assets/coaches that Boston does right now.

Draft BPA and get him to buy into being the same thing Jaylen is, keep getting better while still being one of the top teams in the league... Man that sucks!

Like your points kind of make sense but Bron is 32 and not getting younger. You just have to get better and wait if you're close. Maybe one year you'll get lucky, like Bron gets hurt or someone on the Warriors get hurt. Warriors are going to eventually have to pay a ton in luxury tax and maybe they'll pay it or maybe they won't.

They will have had 13 picks in 4 years, including 2 1st round picks in 2018 and 3 1st rounders in 2019. How many picks can they really keep? At some point you have to put guys on the court
05-18-2017 , 02:03 PM
If they blow the Celtics up even with a small chance of getting insane good through this draft, I think they're insanely ******ed. Unless you have a 2003 draft with a bunch of great players lined up, you can't sell off your future if you're already a contender. I can't imagine their fans will stand for it much their players at this point.

Seems like the strategy should be you're renting and buying a few good/great assets and selling the marginal ones for a marginal or maybe slightly higher price. If you have players who're redundant, you can sell them too even if they're better than marginals.

All NBA teams released

1st team: Kiwi, Harden, RWB, Lebron, Brow
2nd team: Curry, IT2, Durant, Giannis, Rudy
3rd team: Wall, Derozan, Draymond, Butler, Jordan

DeRozan over CP3 is hilarious
05-18-2017 , 02:14 PM
Not as hilarious as the need to put a center on each team

The thing about the NBA and the salary cap is you can't just truly measure a contract dollar for dollar.

Sometimes the only option you have is to spend $20m to improve your team by $10m, and respectable teams are willing to do that to contend/stay in contention.

CP3 should be closer to 1st team than no team.

LOL Brow

I didn't realize super max contracts were at stake for George and Howard with the All NBA voting. LOL NBA. One more feather for the Lakers and Celtics.

I don't care if he played with disabled people.

No way an all nba first team contain a career 25%winrate fraud
05-18-2017 , 02:43 PM
with the possible exception of lamarcus aldridge, every single player who received a vote is better than demar freaking derozan
05-18-2017 , 02:46 PM
I feel like Nikola got robbed by I really like seeing Rudy make second team. DAJ is approaching Chris Kama/Jamal Magloire levels of fraudulence.
05-18-2017 , 02:48 PM
Next year. . .NURK
05-18-2017 , 02:57 PM
Can't make the all NBA team if you can't stay on the court.
05-18-2017 , 03:04 PM
yeah, it's outrageous that players' salaries are at the whim of media voting

I predict Gordon Hayward signs with the Celtics.

Good article about switching as a defensive tactic and how offenses attack it. Mostly stems from the first two games of spurs/woyas, but there is a clip from celtics/wiz this year and woyas/cavs last year
