Wizards keep Bryan Whittmer or whatever his name is.

Is he a good coach or just a fill-in guy they could get on the cheap?

agree agree agree. and the smaller centers are actually necessary due to the greater ballhandling skill of the guards, making it more necessary for the bigs to be quick on their feet so they can help more.

a guy like david robinson has been knocked historically because of that one bad performance against olajuwon. but his numbers were as insane as anyone's that has come along in the modern era. he was a great dominant center that would excel and be even more valuable in today's game.

Re: NBA Season Thread 2011-2012

is he? I don't recall any particularly impressive moves by the clips in recent memory other than having cp3 served to them on a silver platter and claiming chauncey off amnesty waivers (which again is pretty obv).

he did however pay caron butler 3/24, which seems to insta-preclude him from being "awesome"

TheDean doing work.

His last statement is particularly good--no way Caron should have gotten that type of cheese at this stage in his career.

Re: NBA Season Thread 2011-2012

GM Rankings?

1) Buford (SJax for Jefferson and Kawai for Hill are genius strokes)
2) O'connor (seems to alway make the right decisions)
3) Presti - Not sure about this one-- Is drafting RWB/Harden/Ibaka the result of good decision making or rungood?
4/5) Ujiri and Ainge in some order. Ujiri has less of a track record but has pretty much made all the right moves. Ainge has made better moves but also has the Jeff Green issue, but there's also Bass for Baby.

Re: NBA Season Thread 2011-2012

Overrated GMs imo -

Morey - Sure he's gotten the better end of some trades, but his misses, albeit small, seem almost as frequent.

Chris Wallace - Gasol trade made sense, but he's the prime example of a flawed philosophy imo. Get a little success then break the bank to try and keep the team together despite little chance at contention and a soon-to-be damaging super luxury tax bracket. Sometimes you have to get worse before you get better to ensure you can stay successful over a longer stretch of time.

ainge is probably #2 behind buford, i'll do a write up on this later.

he's not perfect but there are a lot of things that he does that go way underappreciated.
