Yeah, I think Larry King would have been a better choice, too.

Prime just-traded Pau as the C; the starting PF for last year's East team was KG? Hurt, non-prime KG? (equal, possibly edge lakers, certainly close)
Ariza or Artest; both are incredibly close. Obviously LBJ >>> those 2, but the point is they are both suited towards defense. So.... (big edge all stars, but less so then vs most other teams)
PRIME Kobe (middle of the decade) vs prime Wade; obviously Wade is better, but this is as close to a wash as you're going to get.

The only big edge is Rondo vs early years Fisher, who PROBABLY is the best Lakers PG of the past 10 years. (I shudder) The Lakers bench is beastly, too; Bynum (all star caliber), Malone (all star caliber), Odom (all star caliber), either Ariza or Artest (whomever doesn't start), Rick Fox, and then I suppose Payton?

Again, only weakness is PG. Every other position is close or an edge to the lakers.

*I do think the All Stars would win, of course, but the point is it's close. The Lakers have had incredible players the past 10 years, including their own GOAT in prime Shaq.

You don't think that plays the East 2nd unit (All Star Derrick Rose, lolz, then Joe Johnson, Pierce, Bosh, Lee/Horford???) incredibly close? I think they do.
WTF is this ****? Lakers get 35 year old Payton and 40 year old Malone.
07-14-2010 , 02:39 PM
hahaha, in his prime Shaq versus current D12 isn't even remotely close. Shaq would **** all over Howard and defending Howard would be a walk in the park for Shaq.

i take the lakers. shaq over dwight is too much for east to overcome.

@dmorey Congrats to Kyle Lowry on signing his new deal. We plan to match the agreement and we are excited he will return to Rockets

Livingston to Charlotte (7/2m). Great!

The Lakers would have been dogs in the Finals to the 09-10 Cavs if the Cavs had made it to the Finals for Christ's sake.

Is this a "how long would it take a team to jell?" question or does your friend have literally no idea how to evaluate basketball talent?

2010 East All Star Reserves vs. 2010 Lakers is a better question. That'd be Rondo-Johnson-GWallace-Bosh-Horford with Pierce, Lee, Rose on the bench. I still like the East.

If we had sent the 2010 Lakers to the Olympics instead of the redeem team, would they have won gold? Spanish team POW > Lakers POW, obviously.

why not send the 2008 celtics? that's the right year. without having really watched all that much international competition, i'd like the celtics' chances.

ffs does he not understand how NBA works? You get good by luckboxing a superstar who can only be paid the max or is forced on the rookie contract, and by assembling a roster of underpaid assets that you can use in fair value trades.

The worst contracts are the middling replacement level players. I'm surprised at nothing at this point, god he sucks.

Maybe its a master plan to tank for more draft picks next season!
ya being a t wolves fan blows unless your in it for the laughs, i guess tickets will be real cheap until the heat come to town
07-14-2010 , 04:01 PM
As an Aussie, I like Wolves cos I used to know some Minny guys, but god this is ridiculous.

I'm pretty much on board the Florida bandwagon. Either Magic or Heat winning it all is fine by me.

if they don't win it this year, they weren't good enough, let alone head-and-shoulders above the rest of the league, so they will struggle to win championships the next 5 years just like everybody else, and might only get maybe 2. then lebron's legacy takes a hit.
This post shows a lack of understanding of variance/luck in sports imo.

I just figured out why the woyas wanted DLee.

"set a new career high by grabbing 21 rebounds on November 29, 2008 against the Golden State Warriors."

"On April 2, Lee recorded the first triple-double of his career, putting up 37 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists against the Golden State Warriors. He is the first player since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1976 to record at least 35 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists in a game."

Every time they see him, he's the second coming.
