In terms of body of work? Yeah, he was all around.

But Hakeem owned him when both were at their absolute peaks. Just gave it to him.

Tough to really say Robinson was better after that. Atleast it isn't something I'd want to argue about.

Robinson was like KG as well, total value was off the charts but you would need a team constructed correctly for him to be the best player on a title team. Not the best go to guy vs elite D.

people love to talk about those 6 games, but they were extremely close throughout their careers when they played against each other

What is the best possible team to construct? Is it a team full of stars, Jordan, Lebron, Durant etc, or is it more specialists surrounding shooters and distributors? I.e. Bowen, Rodman type of guys.

Best possible team is probably a few stars that can play with each other well and then a bunch of role players. If you can find stars who will do the dirty work even better. After a while the high usage guys are going to be redundant.

Which is why guys like Pippen and Kawhi belong on super-teams.

KG and Duncan too.

Shaq? You be the judge.

Thought I'd chip in with my personal top 10. Having seen some of the top ever players (Reggie, T-Mac, PP34, Chuck, Shaq, Kenny etc) having some of the worst lists, casual fans must be incredibly confused.

Few things. Russell and Wilt don't make it. Its way too hard to value them imo so I leave them out and someone can put them in between 5-20 and theyd be fine. Don't think they belong on any top 5 list though. I rate peak pretty high. The way I see it someone like Shaq has a peak of 4/5 years which is so high, gives a higher ring equity than anyone not named MJ/LBJ. Even though it accounts for 20% of his career (most stars is around 50% unless your name is Lebron and its 90%), it was so damn elite, just overrides a lot of guys.

Honorable mentions : Kobe, O.Robinson, D.Robinson, Steph, Durant, Stockton, Malone.

Tier 1
1A. Michael Jordan
1B. LeBron James

Tier2
3. Shaquille O'Neal
4. Magic Johnson
5. Kareem
6. Larry Bird
7. Tim Duncan
8. Hakeem

Tier 3
9. Kevin Garnett
10. Dirk

Think you can mash up tier 2 a lot and wouldn't bother me. Tier 3 would extend with Oscar>Kobe>M.Malone>Durant or something like that. Durant prob goes 11 if he rings, stays outside of 15 if he doesnt, and obviously goes 1. LeBron, 2. Jordan if LeBron rings.

EDIT

Perfect realistic "super team" imo

Wall
Klay
Lebron
Ibaka
M.Gasol

Averages 50ppg and 25rpg for a season. What's a guy gotta do to make a list?

Re: Hakeem

We all know how great he eye tests as a post player. He's also the all time leader in blocks by a large margin with 3830, second is Mutombo with 3289.

He's also 8th all time in steals.

He's 13th in boards but that's partially due to the fact he's only 31st in games played. All of the guys ahead of him who started from '70 on played more games than him. He avg'd 11.11 per game, which is nearly a full board more than Karl Malone as an example. He and Shaq were equivalent with each other as above average post-passers.

I need to watch some full games of DRob tho. I remember him kind of being the Brow of his day, but I've got a gap there in actually watching him.

Too hard to evaluate Wilt and Russell.

Includes Oscar.

easier to eval guards in the 60-80s, than centres brah.

Saying you can't rate Wilt is like saying you can't rate Ali or Jim Brown.

Completely false. Wilt and Russell could play today, right now. Oscar couldn't. It was actually a golden age for bigs but people don't know their history.

Oscar's career started in 1960. Comparing perimeter play then as the same era as the 80s is laughable.

Finals chokery aside, Curry is the perfect player in the modern NBA and I think he should be on this team

I feel like Durant might be nervous during this series. He's never won a championship and the prospect of him finally getting one is close.

It could happen but they also don't need him to have big scoring or super efficient games to win. They were already big favorites to win with harrison barnes instead of him.

His ability to switch and protect the rim with his length is huge enough. Also he's bound to get like 15 open dunks in the series with the corpse of rjeff, korver and other defensive liabilities seeing the floor

People lolling at Curry are weird. He carried a team to 73 wins. He was SO good that plenty of people think he's a "choker" for not being able to beat a top two player who ever lived with his perfectly built around him starting 5 (There are at most like two other teams in history that would be favoured against these Cavs, maybe actually zero). By the end of his career ill have him in the 2nd tier I reckon.

Kobe not tier 3, not top 25 OAT and not top 10 in his era if we consider players he shared at least 3 years with

Duncan
Lebron
Dirk
KG
Durant
Shaq
Wade
Curry
Chris Paul

Are 100% better than Kobe for anybody not sorting by rings. And i can probably add somes players to that list like Harden

Kobe is in the paul pierce, Chauncey Billups, Dwight Howard, ginobili, Pau Gasol 4th/5th tier all time
