Gotta get your enjoyment somewhere given how predictable the end game is atm.

Turns out doing it the right way only really amounts to a pat on the back after a year run for a 1st round exit.
2nd round exit.

Philly wouldn't win a playoff series in the West for another 5 years minimum.

Promo code CAPSPACE

Also the PatPat contract is great value for OKC.

If Thibs couldve gotten Patterson and gave Gibson 2/28...

2nd being bummed about the jazz but not half as much as if had George Hill stayed and Gordon still bolted.

I think it was Nate Duncan or Zach Lowe who said on his podcast that Smart's trade value was a second round pick.

People don't understand how Ainge thinks if they think he tries to trade whoever he thinks is most expendable. He's going to ask around for several players and see what gets him the best return. He's going to try to maximize EV, with the understanding that the best EV might be the trade where he loses the least value.

The Celtics could have pursued a Hinkie-like process, but chose to trade for Thomas rather than maximizing the tank. Some fans were apoplectic that what seemed like a sure good lottery pick turned into a playoff appearance that season. In hindsight, did Ainge make a mistake with the anti-process trade of making a good value trade that made the team better when he had a decent shot at a top five pick? I don't think so.

I'd love to see Boston win a title in the next few years, showing that you can rebuild without bottoming out for several years in a row and that you can win without a transcendent star. It may not happen, it may be almost impossible, but if it does, maybe fewer teams will think they have to put an unwatchable product on the floor while rebuilding and maybe fewer fans will put up with teams that do.

pretty great boston narrative when the reality is a drunk russian playboy took a spin on the nba

Smart only fetching a 2nd is idiotic.

Would be a 1st with restrictions (or once draft positions are solidified) but still.

Only downside on PatPat contract (3/$16.4m) is the 3rd year is a player option.

I'd try to see what Portland would throw into a Turner for Crowder plus pieces swap if I were Ainge.

Let Turner run the 2nd unit to his peak value (as Brad previously established) and sell high on an asset with a phenomenal contract. Crowder's value is only going to drop from here.

They'd prbly want Olynyk too if that can somehow be involved.

Boston Fan not caring about unloading Smart and saying he's not very good should be pretty funny after years of worshiping a flopping brick chucker. Kudos to anyone who jumped ship on him beforehand.

Nothing like being the moral champs of the world.

Ainge haters having a rough go of it.

It's not your fault.

Patrick Patterson have to fire his agent after getting such a small contract, he has value in this league & should be getting twice the amount he got, wow. Thunder team looks solid though, mixture of shooting & defense, they badly need a bench though.

Morals got nothing to do with it. Utah built a top 10 team from the scrap heap while fanboy Philly's best bet from hardcore quanting aspergerness mighhhht sniff top 15 in 3 years.

You have to create a market for Crowder asap imo. Let it ride for a couple years (and be the beneficiary of that contract) otherwise.

Perhaps errantly, I just think his value could be higher to others than to Boston.

Ainge hate is basically solely reliant on Lonzo/Fultz vs Tatum. And I guess if he maxes IT that would be really dumb. So we gotta wait.

Overall I would agree with the consensus that he's put the team in an excellent position, he just coulda done better by taking LONZO.

And obv the BKN deal was the GOAT coup so lolAinge will always be with a caveat

Maxing Isiah is not something a competent gm can do. Or anything close to it

He's a restricted free agent in a year. A rental of a bench player for a year should only be worth a second unless you think you are likely to match an offer sheet next summer. Maybe Ainge should be looking for a minimum salary big.

You're completely wrong.

There's really nothing to cite other than if he ends up getting traded, where I'll be able to lol at you.

If you want me to look for ~#6 overall picks who get moved while under team control, who made a name for themselves in the PO's, for less than a 2nd round pick ... I mean, I can try to do the legwork - but those guys don't usually get moved, DUCY?
