You must not think much of Porzingis then, you don't think he's a #1 option building block for a championship team? or atleast has that potential? i think he does & hence i'de be willing to give up alot for him.

Christmas in June/July wish list:

CP3 to the Spurs

He is also exactly what Ainge is looking for. A big who is young enough and talented enough to help them both now and down the road. It's a perfect situation for Ainge to unload some of the assets he's been hoarding.

guys, if what the Knicks wanted for staps was close to fair, he'd have been moved by now. It's not like the Celtics are the only team with assets. You're all really dumb.

"he should have traded for Porzingis!", even though we have no clue what was asked for him. These offseason conversations are always fun

Clearly you believe in Ainge way too much for your brain to think logically. Bulls gave up Butler for 1 meh asset in dunn, injured lavine & #7 pick, Boston didn't have to break the bank & could've gotten him, so yea Ainge is nitty & that evidence shows it.

The offer that was disclosed on draft night for Porzingis from the Celtics was marcus smart, jaylen brown, #3 & they were trying to get another pick in this years draft & knicks wanted brooklyn 2018 pick instead & they said no & didn't do the deal. To me i'm giving up that Brooklyn pick & getting Porzingis, it's a good amount but Porzingis is one of the only assets worth that much. If you don't think Porzingis is #1 option on a championship team type of piece then you say no, otherwise it's a snap call imo.

Something most people don't realize: Staps kinda sucks
06-24-2017 , 11:48 AM
what's the point in Boston trading for Butler? or PG
06-24-2017 , 12:01 PM
Ainge is a top 3-5 GM, but it's not like I think he can do no wrong. The second I found out about them trading down I emailed my friend in the Sixers org with the subject "wtf". I've been critical of many of his picks.

I woulda liked a Butler deal under the right circumstance but tbh I'd rather have Tatum and Avery, assuming those woulda been two of the pieces.

And I'd certainly rather have Tatum, next year's BK pick, next year's Laker pick, Crowder, and Smart than Staps.

Best Ainge moves outside of bumhunting Billy?

Isaiah? Rondo deal? Ray Allen and KG? Your mom?

The rumor I read was #3, an unnamed player, and another pick in this year's draft. Some guessed it was #7.

If I were Ainge, I wouldn't be in a hurry to do a deal. Porzingis isn't going anywhere without Phil Jackson asking the Celtics to top a bid, unless he has an irrational hatred of the Celtics. Ainge should see who he can get in free agency, then revisit the idea of a trade. There is a decent chance that Jackson is just playing mind games with KP. If he is not, then maybe the price comes down.

That was what Bos was proposing. Phil came back and asked for the 3, the Nets pick, Brown and Crowder. That's when Ainge ended the conversation

I wouldn't jump on Phil Jackson's first counteroffer unless I was worried he was going to be fired and replaced by someone more sensible. If there's a deal there, I think Ainge can get more favorable terms and snap accepting that offer makes it harder to negotiate future trades.

i.e. Ainge is an idiot. He did not even try to negotiate further after Phil's counter offer. LOL at kidcolin calling him a top 3-5 GM. The baseball cards analogy is just perfect.
06-24-2017 , 03:35 PM
lavine is moving into a much less friendly offensive environment and is prob going to see a usg bump to boot. wouldn't be surprised to see him regress
06-24-2017 , 03:43 PM
ainge is clearly a top 5 GM, and lol at acting like anyone knows what deals are on the table when. And it's not like a Zinger deal is completely off the table.

And not dealing 2 lottos and your recent #3 pick for staps is totally standard, and it was likely larger than that. Phil has been shopping Staps for longer than you realize, and he's been asking for a king's ransom the entire time.

Ainge (I hate giving too much responsibility to one guy, would rather say "Celtics front office") actually has a pretty medicore draft record.

As a trader and contract giver though his record is absolutely impeccable.

yeah he's an aids drafter ever since like... '04.
06-24-2017 , 04:26 PM
Not a good sign for Tatum then. Could the issue be poor player development as well on the celtics part? Seems like the correct plays are to trade draft assets for established players then.
06-24-2017 , 04:33 PM
They don't generally draft this high. Jalen was their first top ten pick since what, Paul Pierce? And that was an aids class.

Jeff Green doesn't count since that was Seattle's pick in actuality.
06-24-2017 , 04:54 PM
Smart was 6th pick. They drafted Foye but immediately flipped him as the 7th pick.

In the last 11 years, he's had 31 picks, Smart (6), Bradley (19), Green (5), Sullinger (21) if you count him are the only slightly above average picks from the team. He's had a number of 2nd round busts which are whatever but shocking not 1 hasn't really worked out.

His 2004 draft is pretty sick though with Al Jeff, Tony ALlen and Delonte West.
