Rockets also have a lot of equity if dwight ends up there.

Howard sweepstakes begin when? and who would be the teams putting in bids? If he goes to Miami, does Stern veto it?

I say CP3 stays put. J Smoove goes to the highest bidder (I can picture him on the Rockets). HGH to the Bulls.

A team would need the cap room to take on Marion and the 13th pick without giving up close to equal money. I can't think of a team that could do that and wouldn't rather just spend that cap room on something better than Marion+13.

what better are the cavs going to use their cap room on than marion + 13? 13 pick is pretty nice in this draft, they can stack another useful young guy and marion is a decent enough role player to stick in the rotation in their crusade for the 8 seed. and then they get all that cap room back next offseason when marion expires and labron returns to cleveland.

I don't know. I haven't yet familiarized myself with the Free Agents list. I'd be surprised if I couldn't spend $10 million better than Marion+13 though. I don't value the 13th pick too highly though.

$9.3M will buy them like jj redick and dejuan blair

They're not restricted to only spending $9.3M. They could use that in addition to their other cap space and make a run at someone like PEK. I doubt Minnesota matches a near-max for him.
06-21-2013 , 12:00 PM
they can prob afford to sign pek even after adding marion

edit- wait no, nvm. gotta pay dem draft picks.

No possible reason for Cleveland to go after Pek though. Varejao + Noel (probably) got them set at C.

Apparently Denver went after Doc earlier too:

Quote:
Shortly after firing George Karl, the Denver Nuggets offered the Boston Celtics a first-round draft pick as compensation to pry coach Doc Rivers out of his contract, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.Nuggets CEO Josh Kroenke made a bid for Rivers approximately 10 days ago, informing general manager Danny Ainge of his willingness to part with a pick if the Nuggets were able to procure Rivers.Nevertheless, Boston wasn’t prepared to start the process of letting Rivers leave and discussions never went beyond one brief conversation between Kroenke and Ainge, league sources said.
Also Josh Kroenke says Iggy their chances of retaining Iggy are close to 100%. Please to not be blowing smoke.

I like that 13+marion deal for both teams. 13th pick is no joke this year
06-21-2013 , 12:35 PM
I like it as well Crunchy. Victoar for GM.

wat?

this is like the weakest draft since the Il Mago one
06-21-2013 , 12:38 PM
Negative. Weak at the top but the first round as a whole is strong
06-21-2013 , 12:40 PM
I hear high scoring and high flying JR Smith is available to all you NBA GMs out there looking to spend some cash.
06-21-2013 , 12:59 PM
He needs George Karl to keep him efficient and in line. The sad part is those two will never cross paths again. He could have been really really good if he'd just continued to work on his game in his early 20s

What should Spurs do to offer them best chance at a title next year? Think letting Manu go seems like the smart move, but I am really not sure. I want Duncan to get another chance.

Only for like the top 5, the mid 1st round is fine
