This Gary Harris > Wiggins thing is starting to grate on me as well.
That Gary Harris thing was taken out of context.
Minnesota's young core is:
Rubio/Kat/Wiggins/Lavine/Dieng
Denver's youth movement is:
Mudiay/Harris/Jokic/Nurkic
Avg age of Denver's is younger. Minny is obviously better at their best position, and I think Denver is better 2-5. When you factor in the experience of minutes played the difference is more stark. Their leading minute-getters and young core
are younger, but that really wasn't the most important part of my argument. Even though Jokic was arguably better than KAT overall I don't think the projections are as nice for their 2-15 guys.
Denver missed more games than all but 2 other teams this year, and still managed to post a better win total and SRS playing their young guys about as much. What separates the two teams imo is that Denver is just deeper and have more assets. Gallo/Faried/Chandler/Barton are all decent to good players on friendly contracts which at worst helps them win game and at best serve as trade chips. Having 3 picks in the first round this year and a swap with Memphis next also adds more value and roster flexibility. That's why I think their future is brighter.
I could very well be wrong and Thibs turns their hugely negative players into big positives, but until I see it I don't think my argument is false. I'm not high on Wiggins and every point I make is with that in mind. I understand there are many who think he's going to be awesome, and if I was one of them then I'd absolutely be higher on Minnesota.
