Is it going to be the same situation for Russ next year where it will behoove him to stick around for a year or will him and Durant be free w/ nothing holding them back but bird rights?

Yeah I made a point to avoid talking about the finals because it's way too small of a sample, but his time in Cleveland plus Minny is quite a large one. The wolves were actually good when he played, AIDS when he didn't.

Schwallie is right that he's hard to root for, but as a Cavs fan I'd be really optimistic about his like-ability now that they have titled. Winning a chip really does cure a lot of things imo. Also helps that he completely sold out in the final game and locked down Steph for the final play.

In for the primary SE NBA'ing I do...off-season NBA'ing.

steph - klay - iggy - dirk - draymond/bogut is a much better fit than dirk and lebron overlapping in the high post, lack of defense in the frontcourt there'd be in cleveland
06-21-2016 , 04:02 PM
dirk alongside draymond is pretty much the best front court pairing you can ask for for dirk. if they strike out and decide to part w/ barnes/ezeli and want to stay lean, giving dirk 1 year 5-10m to be a 6th/7th man and play 20 min a game and close games in the right matchup and make the greatest pnr tandem in the history of the league would be cool
06-21-2016 , 05:10 PM
I don't get Dirk to GSW. How does he not get insta-pnr'd off the court vs. the Cavs?

I think I didn't think through the TRG thing and I'm going to side with you on Love > TRG.

Still don't want Love on the team, but realize that maybe they don't need a Love replacement. Maybe LBJ+TT is that already? Maybe it does make sense to get a 3rd big/2nd TT and a hybrid 1/2 that can defend Curry/Russ

Over the whole Love thing. He's a good player, for sure, and being underrated, but just not fun to cheer for. Would like to enjoy upcoming years' Cavs, since the monkey is off the back. This year was not really fun as a Cavs fan until G7 for me. Just too much whining
Love being the guy you find hard to root for? The dude is a class act. He got neutered in this series and pretty much since he got to the cavs after being a major stud in minnesota. But did he whine or complain to the media like most alpha stars do if that happened to them? No, just kept quiet and did his job.

My understanding, caveated by that I don't really know what I'm talking about, is that the big cap jumps should end after next season when it should go up from like 89 to ~100, but after that like the usual 3-5% percent.

So after next offseason it goes back to the normal system where guys are going to go for long term deals, Russ will get the normal 4/5 year max.

knicks will have roughly 32 million for two free agents and another 3 million for one more.

Dwight opted out and is going to be a FA

Pretty pathetic for warriors to have the biggest choke in history and immediately talk about poaching other teams best player.. especially when both teams arguably have better coaching

lebron or west team wins it for next x = even money? i think x = 5 or 6.

next year best 2 teams on bov is 25-1

1. raptors who are drawing dead unless the next great player is born in toronto
2. celtics who might struggle to turn a bunch of pocket change into a dollar.
3. bulls who are completely rebuilding. bucks > them.
4. heat who have the problem of 2 aging stars

The warriors are the last team you can say this about as they made their team through the draft. Everyone else is trying to get the star free agents so why can't they? They're supposed to do nothing and let everyone else build super teams?

kevin love really isnt that needed to win series vs whats currently most likely chip contender gsw. Vs everyone else they`ll do just fine with or w/o Klove, esp given they are in the East. he isnt a bad player, but def. not worthy 110 mill or w/e, esp being quite aids mostly on defense vs woyas offense (g7 of the finals was quite weird game considering what we saw all season+98% of postsession previously from him). I mean i would certainly leave him at like 50-60% of his current contract or so, but he cant stay max player for CLE for next 2+ years (unless they somehow magically win 2nd in a row w this same roster and we see loves true value, but thats quite doubtful).
They can sign one mediocre one with a MLE hopefully
But really they need to trade loved for those guys

I think this is a big offseason for them in that their players can and should work on their weaknesses more than ever. They have a championship squad that's relatively young, I see no need to tweak it while there is still room to improve.

And they just might be the nightmare matchup for Golden State and not the other way around. TT and Lebron as your bigs is the perfect foil for the Steph pnr, and SMIFF proved his chops as a screener in helping the Cavs dictate who they wanted Steph on. Kyrie is that Kobe-like scorer that can also shoot which seems perfect for James.

Just run it back and take your chances imo.
Can't play small ball against gasol
Gasol on the cavs would be way better than love

Using how gasol would do against the Warriors is a hilarious take considering love was awful against the Warriors

What contending teams can afford him that are in the market for a center

On paper I'd like him on the Warriors but think he'd **** up their mojo wouldn't risk it
Gladly take em on the cavs but they can't sign anyone

Mavericks?

I think he's gotten to be undervalued here (and in the media at large) because of one bad series. He had a good playoffs, but he's just a horrible matchup against GSW. He's still a very valuable player imo.
you are completely right, but the most likely outcome for the next few years is cleveland in the finals against gs. them fixing a major part of their problem vs their main opponent wouldn't be bad for their ship equity.

there's some pretty good free agents available. horford/durant/batum etc. batum or horford on the dubs would be pretty sick
