if kerr is going to clown around with 12 man rotations in the nba finals, id rather it include 15 minutes of dirk getting turn styled than any other combo he used

also ive bailed on analytics and have switched my allegiance to mark jackson's school of "the great ones find a way to get it done". and dirk is a great one, so theres that.

I find it odd that a guy who routinely crushes the +- on a team that just won a chip is a hinderance to them winning a chip.

Dirks not going anywhere. Makes me think Warriors maybe won't go hard at Durant because they know he is staying in okc of something.

Batum - I see him going to the Spurs. Especially if Duncan retires and they have more room.

why wouldnt dirk go anywhere? the mavs are one of the most uninspiring teams in the nba. he's been out of the spotlight for a few years, and the warriors would certainly be a way to taste it one last time.

the mav for life thing is something people say when times are good. it helps your brand and culture. but these things change...

dirks options:

1. sqz the mavs for the max. team will be pretty bad and it sets the organization back
2. take another discount. sign superstar dwight howard
3. take a discount to sign with the warriors and play meaningful and probably epic games

personally, i think the worst one is 2 since it's lose/lose. 1 vs 3? i can't read his mind. all i know is that saying your a mav for life is what they all say in that spot. there's a long list of stars who spend the last 1, 2, 3 years of their career with a different team.

It's hard to see how the Warriors would have any inside knowledge on this point. It's not as if Durant somehow let them in on his secret plans.

It seems like Durant is just chasing a ring at this point and is going to go wherever he thinks he has the best chance to get one. And he might well decide that his chances, at least for next year, are as good in OKC as they are anywhere else.

While it would be hilarious to see Curry, Klay, Draymond, and KD on the same team, as a fan of the league, I honestly am hoping that he stays in OKC. If he leaves, then Russ will leave too, and a team with a great fan base in a small market will be in purgatory for a decade.

Cavs are obv title favorites next year since the play in the lolEast. I wish they'd just re-seed the 2nd round of the playoffs and let us have GS/OKC and SA/CLE final four.

If the playoffs were reseeded, am I crazy to think OKC should be the favorites? KD/Russ will never be better than they will be next season as 28 yo's, Adams and Donovan will be better, the bench will be better by default (maybe Payne becomes useful even). It's obv way too early to know exactly what they'll look like next season but I can see them just crushing everyone.

His best chance is to tell GSW he wants to play there during the moratorium, then watch them deplete their roster to make room, then sign with okc.
06-21-2016 , 01:19 PM
I agree. I could see the Mavs and Dirk parting ways amicably if the Mavs decide to tear it down. It's not as if the Mavs benefit from paying Dirk the max during a reboot.

I am fine with the Warriors letting Ezeli and Barnes go, even if they sign someone besides Durant.

Iggy and Bogut obviously are much tougher to release.

nor Wes Matthews, that's the main thing that'd stink about Dirk leaving. That move last year.

I think Charlotte just maxes Batum. Done and done.

Dirk probably goes to Cleveland over Golden State it comes down to the MLE. Guaranteed finals and playing with Bron over staying in the West.

he potentially would be able to play with two French homies while going to the best team/fit available to him and then there's the Pop factor ldo.

Diaw and Parker are signed for another 2 years. Also reunites with LMA.

He might love Cliff tho.

I think they could get something for Wes, which could make it a nice clean blowup.

I mentioned this before, but Memphis only having a top 5 protection on their pick makes their rebuild dicey if they choose to go that route, and I think they would trade TRG for their pick from Denver back straight up, which could lead to Denver getting involved in some sort of 3 way trade.

Or he could just make 30M more. Doesn't Charlotte have his Birds?

sure, thanks for the refresher. I'm unclear on rights but I assume so since they traded for his existing contract.

I meant to look up what maxes each tier of service time is eligible for plus exemptions and do a post last night but forgot. Along with what each team's eligible space is.

If anyone else feels like doing so please do or I'll get around to it eventually.

d00d

you're gonna have to show your work on Love>TRG
06-21-2016 , 01:43 PM
The only thing I have is lineup data Geoff, which Love crushed both raw and adjusted. Love sucks at the eye test but at some point (as he was in minny) you just have to take that leap of faith that maybe he might be good or his mere presence makes others play good. Sorry that's all I got.

I mean I think Gasol is a better fit with Bron, but Love worked on that team so why mess with it?
06-21-2016 , 01:48 PM
I actually think he's a worse fit bc him & TT are pretty much unplayable together. But I think it's pretty crazy to think you'd rather have Love in a vacuum than Gasol for next year
06-21-2016 , 01:50 PM
I think it's more a function of TRGs decline than Love being awesome. He's no spring chicken and plays a position that's becoming less and less valuable with his skill set.

up until the finals it was pretty easy to see how he had great +/- numbers, he was actually hitting shots, during the finals it's just a matter of sample size, he lead in games where he was awful, at the same time Lebron was dead last, things like that don't require much explaining.
06-21-2016 , 02:14 PM
With the cap going up at KD's age it's vastly better for him to keep his bird rights in OKC for one more year and then evaluate max offers next offseason

As long as he'd take less i'd be cool with dirk for a short term plan. He's no where near Durant of course, if warriors get durant it's game over. But Dirk certainly would fit right in as he's a good dude who doesn't bring the "it's all about me" attitude so it wouldn't ruin chemistry. I'd much more trust his jumper than Barnes. And he'd be really good at setting screens/pnr which the warriors need. With Bogut out that became more of a problem. Also brings some size.
