Love trade makes sense because he plays the same position as the franchise savior, but breaking up a championship core will get excoriated if it doesn't work out. Will take some serious balls from David Griffin.
very excited to for this off-season (cant explain why exactly, similarly to the decision off-season, i feel smth interesting can happen this summer), and just looking what the final rosters will look like for playoff teams come April 2017.
dont cavs just need few (2-3) random 5-7mill/y guys who can mainly defend solid (esp perimeter) and shoot well of drive-pass ? (aka shumpert except not shump cose he`s AIDs).
kevin love really isnt that needed to win series vs whats currently most likely chip contender gsw. Vs everyone else they`ll do just fine with or w/o Klove, esp given they are in the East. he isnt a bad player, but def. not worthy 110 mill or w/e, esp being quite aids mostly on defense vs woyas offense (g7 of the finals was quite weird game considering what we saw all season+98% of postsession previously from him). I mean i would certainly leave him at like 50-60% of his current contract or so, but he cant stay max player for CLE for next 2+ years (unless they somehow magically win 2nd in a row w this same roster and we see loves true value, but thats quite doubtful).

Over the whole Love thing. He's a good player, for sure, and being underrated, but just not fun to cheer for. Would like to enjoy upcoming years' Cavs, since the monkey is off the back. This year was not really fun as a Cavs fan until G7 for me. Just too much whining
Love is better than Gasol imo. I know he was largely superfluous in this series, but We are also talking about a team with about a year and a half of playing together and two coaches, with Lue only having about six months with the team. Cleveland can still organically get a little better with continuity and coaching, and you have to figure Shump will improve as his health does.
I think this is a big offseason for them in that their players can and should work on their weaknesses more than ever. They have a championship squad that's relatively young, I see no need to tweak it while there is still room to improve.
And they just might be the nightmare matchup for Golden State and not the other way around. TT and Lebron as your bigs is the perfect foil for the Steph pnr, and SMIFF proved his chops as a screener in helping the Cavs dictate who they wanted Steph on. Kyrie is that Kobe-like scorer that can also shoot which seems perfect for James.
i posted it in the season thread but the absolutely perfect trade is amir and avery bradley for love
both teams get better, celts use capspace this year or next on someone who can protect the rim. if any team can deal with love at the 5 it's a team coached by brad with marcus smart and jae crowder as two of the perimeter defenders.
an IT2 love pnr would be dynamite and brad would find ways to put him in good scoring positions and creatively hide him on D. celtics could use his rebounding big time as well. sign al horford or maybe biyombo or maybe even whiteside and the celts are a contender overnight
(just to be clear, the celtics should NOT be adding picks in this trade, imo. bradley is under contract for two more years at a bargain price, amir has a non guaranteed 12m that'll get picked up and he can be a serviceable 3rd big for the cavs)
neither team would probably want to do this since they're kind of conference rivals, but it's the perfect example of a sum of their parts thing making both teams better. cavs are terrifying with AB dialed in on whoever kyrie or lebron don't want to guard.
CBS is reporting that the Warriors will make a run at Dirk as a consolation price if they miss on KD. WTF? I love Dirk as much as the next guy, but the last thing the Warriors need right now is an aging scorer who is a significant defensive liability. Wouldn't Batum be a much better fit?
