Cleveland is the only team he could go to where his public image will improve, if he cares about that at all. Any other choice, and that sports nation poll will always be exactly the same as this year. Forty-nine states cheering against him and wherever he's at cheering for him.
If he went to Houston he might not even be able to carry Texas because of Spurs and Mavs fans. While I don't think he's thin-skinned, it can't be fun to be hated when you're great. There has never been an all-time great hated like he is, and I don't think he's Chael Sonnen, where he enjoys being villified.
Winning has always cured that for everyone else, but it hasn't for him. He's like ARod level, but didn't cheat and is a generally nice kid. I think he'll stay in Miami for another year.
Really interesting to see what Wade does with his contract. If he opts out, you know Lebron is coming back and Dwayne is making a friendlier deal for the Heat to add talent. If he opts in, then anything is possible, but it's all downhill for the Heat.
Really bad spot for Wade. He has always been beloved, but if he opts in, LBJ leaves, they are going to turn on him real fast. I think he'll opt out and play for a discount, but that's a bitter pill to swallow when you put the whole thing together and NBA franchises are appreciating at record rates.
He opts out, makes a Heat friendly deal, and then all 3 can pressure Arrison to pay large luxury tax bill to add talent if they are willing to sacrifice. He'll have no choice, because no one wants to hear owners whine about luxury tax when the Bucks sold for $600 million and Clips for $2 billion. Bosh is already on record as loving Miami and willing to play for a discount.
That's the only way I see it where it's at all sustainable for multiple years.
