Eh, I don't. It's three things. Just look at the defensive four factors year to year.
They're only slightly worse in eFG% against. Doesn't really tell the story that Zeke is getting owned.
They're a good deal worse in FT/FGA. Maybe zeke is a factor here, but his own fouls have not gone up much. So that's hard to explain. It would mean secondary effects to him getting burnt and Olynyk having to foul a slashing guard. But that would generally mean a big uptick in eFG% against.
Their rebounding has completely tanked. They weren't great last year, but they're basically dead last now. Welcome to Boston, AL Horford.
And they don't turn the ball over like they used to. I have not paid close enough attention to determine whether this is a stylistic change or merely a factor of Avery missing a bunch of games.
