I was going to post a lineup to troll LFC and couldn't decide who to chuck at PF... what do we reckon: Hill - Harden - Hayward - X - TRG. X = Blake or Draymond? Or maybe even Love?

I think I go Draymond and load up on defense and let Harden be the offense

You can't make that lineup maxing Gordon Hayward tho. At least you couldn't under the old CBA, don't know much about that new one yet. That was all exactly my point. Plus lol at Hayward getting the last shot with that lineup over Harden. Also my point.

Additionally it's far from a given that the Jazz even do win a series, but lol at that being a great season.

Games tonight. Celtics/Pacers game off to a super awesome start, really fun watching teams play at a pace like this. Hornets/Lakers from the other night comes to mind if anyone is in to watching game replays, one of the most fun games of the season imo. Let's go SUPER TEAM.

Any time a team's winning expectation would go up with less time on the clock they should be using up close to the full 5 seconds to inbounds after a basket, and they can also have the inbounder drop the ball right in front of them so the team could theoretically run the clock down indefinitely. I have been wondering why no team does this for many years.

Seems like the loss of Blake turns reddick into the player he could be, and I never notice his defensive "deficiencies" when I see him play.

Redick hasn't been a bad defender for a few years now. As he's gotten older he's increased his strength and become smarter.

And ya, 2nd straight year I'll say this but the Clippers just need to trade Blake. He's really good but the pieces they would get back from a team who needs a star would make the Clippers better- both short & long term. Now they have a nonzero % chance of losing him for nothing.

DAJ might be a top 8 player itl when Blake doesn't play. Dude is a monster when there isn't another guy clogging the paint.

Who would be a major candidate to trade for him and what would they offer?

Melo could make sense. Staps/Blake would be nice and CP3/Melo are BFFS. No I don't think Melo is as good as Blake but there really isn't much out there and the clock is ticking on LA. For instance, OKC is a viable trade partner but what do they have to offer that would help LA win now? Butler is interesting but I doubt Chicago does that.

Blake is going to be an UFA. Why would any team with cap space this summer trade anything meaningful for him? I think the Knicks with Melo is the only team that makes sense.

same reason as always? get a head start on the competition. obv only trade if you're guaranteed an extension but if you wait til FA you're likely gonna be battling a bunch of teams with cap space.

I'd super snap trade Melo for Blake.

Looks like a pretty decent possibility that Melo would waive his no trade clause to play with CP3 too.

The more I think about it the more I hate that Joakim Noah deal. Kyle O'Quinn is already clearly better than him. Plus he has a reliable jumpshot too meanwhile Noah is afraid to shoot jumpers.

edit: O'Quinn had 14 pts 16 reb and 5 blocks tonight in 24 mins

Because with the new CBA blake would essentially be leaving 70 million on the table to leave

but if Blake was traded to the Knicks, would he still have his Bird rights?

knicks couldn't use the designated player exception on blake if they got him. can only be used by the team who drafted a player unless the player was traded on a rookie deal

My initial thoughts were he only hurts their bench lineup by being out, but then I remembered it's Roc Divers who doesn't play Blake with them ftmp. Yeah it does seem that trading him while he was worth more could have at least elevated their ceiling while lowering their floor, not such a bad thing.
