NBA Draft 2017 NBA Draft 2017

I see Josh Jackson as a more athletic and more skilled Brandon Ingram, but Ingram is the better shooter and a LOT longer even though he's only an inch taller. Ingram is also somehow 6 months younger.

i see that dx has adebayo at 27 but i just decided to look at him based on some fawning forum posts. it's hard to see a guy with his average center tools and seemingly meh feel and limited floor game be anything that good in the nba. i guess if his all his offensive skills really blossom including him turning into a competent shooter along with evolving into smart/intense defender then great, but that's a planets aligning situation you could argue for almost anyone

seems like he should be drafted as a guy who's a solid bet to stick in the nba as a backup big without a whole lot more potential than that

dx has this guy jarret allen at 12, his the intrigue relates to his combo of great height/length and jumper (48% on 2pt jumpers which are 55% of his shots). to me his trash ft shooting (55%) moderates that a bit, and frankly he just seems like a total puss. despite his great length and pretty good flashes of athleticism, he doesn't get as many stocks/boards as you would expect - hard to envision him being a good defender in the nba since his lateral mobility also seems bad. also his dirty peachfuzz mo makes me question his judgement

i think adebayo benefits from some weak bigs.

id take him over rabb or john collins

Seems like value there. Reminds me of Artest somewhat. Love the defensive versatility.

No way he should go in round 1. His only strength is that he is a pretty decent scorer in the paint, but he is below average at literally everything else. He's kinda like a Jahlil Okafor that is more athletic but also sucks much more at basketball.

What's crazy is that he has a 7'6" wingspan and barely any steals considering that Texas used him at the top of presses and zones decently often. He's still young but I see little to be optimistic about.

I'm a Jackson fan, but he's kinda old and not sure he will ever be a #1 scoring option, but it's not difficult to see him as a loser ppg version of Butler/George with better passing.
Well Fultz is the #1 prospect in the draft. He has a higher floor, median projection, AND ceiling than Jackson, and probably everyone else (Lonzo may have a higher floor, but marginally if so, as previously discussed).

Updated mock draft from Givony. Shows some commentary on picks on yahoo rather then draftexpess.

He says theirs a dropoff after Tatum and puts the first four picks as elite. He thinks after Bridges theirs another talent drop off. Got to be in that first 11 picks this season.

Having Dennis Smith ahead of Markkanen makes him pretty lol imo

the guy says "possibly the best shooter in the draft", btw he's 7 feet tall. take him 8th. LOL.

he does highlight something i mentioned earlier though, which is that orlando is kind of a nightmare for trying to assess fit and future roster plans. i personally think sticking tatum into that starting 5 is still a disaster.

a lot of teams have very simple plug and play decisions for the top 4 and the top 11. his mock is similar to mine except i have Nkilitina > DSmith and Markkanen way higher.

I think Orando may not have a single player on their roster who will be on their roster the next time they win 50 games whenever that ends up being.

They def need to just take bpa.

Realllllllly hope Knicks continue to tank the difference between 4th pick and 7th pick could be huge

if i were magic id draft markkanen 4th and try to get bryant crawford 23rd

trade aaron gordon and vucevic

starting lineup of payton, fournier, ross, markkanen, biyombo

give more minutes to hezonja, make crawford the flex bench PG that you have been doing with payton/augustin

a lot of his mock makes sense when you consider fit, because he presumes that gordon and vucevich and biyombo are all gonna still be there so why would you put markkanen in that environment. then you see philly is next (they have saric and hopefully embiid so it doesnt fit), then sacramento (skal and WCS) then knicks (need PG)

my take is he absolutely should not get past the Knicks, Markkanen/Porzingis is so intriguing and there are a plethora of guards you can plug in or pay something near the midlevel by dumping rose.

I think Miami is a great trade candidate for Markkanen. Miami and Orlando have engaged in talks over Dragic previously, and Miami has an intriguing replacement on their own roster in Tyler Johnson.

Something like Dragic/Winslow/2017 1st (~13th pick) for Markkanen/Payton

Orlando roster: Dragic, Fournier, Ross, Gordon, Biyombo/Vucevic
Miami roster: Johnson, Waiters, Richardson, Markkanen, Whiteside

just spitballing, maybe the market is a little higher and miami needs to add a little more

orlando's GM is definitely on the hot seat and going after Dragic would give him a sweat at the 8 seed next year possibly saving his job.

Hes for sure adding in for need on that draft. Draftexpress has the top 4 the same way in their top 100 but then goes: 5.Fox 6.Smith 7.Mark 8.Monk where we see Monk is pick 5 but Monk is obv a nice fit on the 76ers so makes since theyd consider him at that spot.

Not saying i 100% agree with what their saying i just think their the best out their currently as far as public draft information.

Its interesting that we have a draft where you can debate so much of who should go where from the top 2 picks then Jackson seems to entrenched at the 3pick with debate the rest of the way. Seems like MOST the so called draft experts are with Fultz over Ball, will be interesting to see if nba teams agree come draft time.

watched a lot of markkanen vids last night after the zona/xavier game. offensive upside looks really sick but he seems like he will be a liability on the boards and on d

honestly have a hard time believing anyone can watch ball and think 'yeah he's just an ok athlete'. makes me think it's a blatant and ridiculous troll

if thornwell somehow doesnt get drafted as a 6'5 SG then it will be hilarious to see what team picks him up. seems insane to be able to get him at the back end of the 1st or early 2nd. hope he goes to a contender. he really is going to be a great role player.

Lonzo didn't even look like he belongs in the NBA let alone a top 3 pick tonight. Really hope he isn't still on the board when the sixers are picking.
