He kind of reminds me of Kemba Walker, with a little better shot and worse athleticism.
He's a pretty great distributor imo. I share the concerns about size, defense and athleticism, but his passing ability and overall offensive smarts are pretty high. Don't agree with 'more of a scorer than a PG' in the Kemba mode. Even last night with all the clutch he had 8 assists. For the season he's averaging 5.4 AST, 1.9 TO, ratio = 2.8.

Think 15-25 is probably about right. I'm hoping he stays in school another year because I'm a duke slappy.

7th percentile in isolation situations is pretty lol.
Are you drawing the wrong conclusion from the iso stat? 'Post ups' is a separate category, so I'd guess isolations is when he gets isolated on the perimeter... aka when there's a switch/mismatch. No wonder he does poorly in that situation (small sample as well).

I'm also not sure how to take these stats because they're saying he's an excellent PNR defender in a small sample, which doesn't match the eye test. Overall this shows him as a mediocre defender, which is accurate.

It'd be interesting to see the offensive tab.

just massively wrong on multiple counts here. you need to watch more TOWNS

offensively he obv has more postup, iso and passing ability than ibaka. i think he's closer to lma than ibaka. hasn't quite shown it but he's coming around recently. 80% of fts at 18yo is a sick sign too for his shooting prognosis. defensively idk but his stats are sick and he's huge + pretty athletic

he seems pretty smart to me in interviews and supposedly had good grades. which is a lol complaint since you love mudiay the dumbass african who's currently riding the pine behind will bynum in china

Yeah LMA does seem to be a pretty good comparison. The only thing that LMA has much better is the sick high release. That could be important. Anyway lol at drafting dangelo barksdale or mudiay ahead of this guy. lol de.

I've always maintained that Towns is an obvious top pick. Taking him over Okafor is still a klown move, which was the context of that post. You're already getting close to Raidsing up Forfeiture too.

and to go with his legit center length he actually has real wing skills. dude takes the jump ball for the opening tip at a school that can actually recruit bigs while being able to handle the ball like a guard and is shooting 40% from three.

to top it all off, he seems really smart as well. since they started keeping track of offensive rebounds, Looney is the only freshman ever with more assists than turnovers to average more than 3 offensive rebounds per game at 3.7 oReb/g and a 1.6 to 1.4 A/TO ratio. the only other player with a positive A/TO ratio to come close is some guy named Anthony Davis who averaged slightly under 3 oReb/g.

last night at the end of the Arizona St. game UCLA was down by 2 and AZ St. got a huge offensive rebound with ~20 seconds left. Looney was the only one the court that recognized the situation and despite having already having 4 fouls and it meaning the end of his night he quickly committed the foul to stop the clock when he realized no one else on his team was going to.

btw UCLA is never going anywhere with Steve Alford as their coach, i don't think there's any way outside of a brain damage causing childhood accident that the son of a non-dumbass coach could ever end up with as low a BBIQ as Bryce has.
comes across kinda odd in this interview

but yeah seems good. probable lottery pick at least. his shooting doesn't really seem that legit

What's Towns' projection as a power forward? Seems like he has a little Ibaka in him but I've only watched a couple games.

I think MUDIAY is the next great lead guard. Might have him #1 on my big board.

Mudiay chose SMU over UK, then it turned out his grades weren't even good enough for SMU basketball. I'm sure Mudiay is talented as hell...

So apparently Okafor believes in mermaids, and Towns has an alternate personality called 'Karlito' he talks to.

thanks hadn't seen that before. despite his countrified accent he seemed to grasp the gist of the questions being asked and have a reasonably intelligent response rather quickly.

i loved the way he was smiling and seemed so enthusiastic to be getting interviewed, i'm still on board 100%.

he's more like a Tim Duncan who had been allowed to practice shooting threes growing up than he is an Ibaka. think a modern combination of Duncan and Al Horford.

My six-year old just asked me this weekend if mermaids are real. I've got to have a talk with Okafor and let him know that he can't be improperly influencing my kids like that.

with Towns i'm pretty sure he is just messing around trying to be funny. with the way Okafor's head is shaped and his lack of defensive awareness, i think he might be serious.

yep okafors head shape very concerning to me too, nba teams need to pay phrenology the respect it deserves as a science

looney doesn't seem bad or anything in that interview, prob just a lovable weirdo

Okafor's biggest red flag is that he wears a full t-shirt under his jersey

It restricts your shot if you tend to over shoot, and also mimics shirts vs skins on the playground.
