Looks like you are after wrane. He was too busy owning AJ last night to make a pick.

Wrane,

Tell mama bear the kiddo is working on some multi million dollar proposals for global organizations and doesn't stay up late on week nights.

I'm fine with Klay as I don't want to slow things up. I'd like a co owner or drop out as this is very low on my priorities as the moment.

People say this, but they did get an atypically good long term return piece in UNDRAFTED.

Most times a superstar is unloaded it looks like the trade this year with UNDRAFTED or when Vince was gifted away by Toronto.

I still think UNDRAFTED can score and they foolishly didn't hold on to him either, KMart was also a short term 3rd wheel for the team. Overall, the Harden trade was much better return than the average superstar trade.

AJ, I'm following along sort of. I'd be happy to make picks for you when it seems like you're not around but give you first dibs.

wow that's a really hot take to put russ ahead of giannis. 1 year draft for next year it'd be close i suppose

When everything went wrong for the Thunder I would have kept Harden/Durant and traded Westbrook + Perkins for Howard (At that time Orlando was shopping him, and no offer were close to Westbrook)

It would have been still terrible considering Dwight Howard health issues, but at that time I thought this was the best move for the franchise

Well the only thing that went wrong was the franchise having cheap* owners.

Harden was willing to sign for 58 if I remember right.

*Which means trading for Dwight's contract wasn't a solution. Even with Perk being unloaded. I think what you're suggesting would've been salary neutral.

Wrane should be skipped and/or booted for posting while he was up and not picking.

Can I pick now?

I think it was still uncertain as to whether the Klay pick would stand when Wrane was posting.

Nah it wouldn't be close. Russ is a big favorite to be a better overall player than Giannis next year. 23 year olds gonna 23 year old.

He might be a favorite, but he definitely isn't a big favorite. And to say is a better player than Giannis in this format is objectively false.

Paul George There are a lot of reasonable options left but it's nice to lockdown a two way wing to give me some flexibility down the line

I'll take Gordon Hayward

I was sniped on Paul George....I think hes better than Hayward because of the "top 5 player upside" he has flashed in the past, but Hayward has been better this season and they are the same age so its an interesting discussion.

Its really not. And I had them 7th and 8th amongst all players in the world so I'm not saying it's not close.

I do think it was significantly bad to take Giannis over LeBron, Harden, And Steph.

Its my opinion that it's extremely difficult if not impossible to build a contender in years 1 and 2 in this format around Giannis.

There's a reason 22 and 23 year old players struggle. It takes time and experience to learn how to play championship caliber ball.

Now granted Giannis will be a complete beast in the later years of this but his edge over those 3 players and Russ will not be big enough in those seasons to offset the edge they have on him early on.

Its just much better to have an elite player at 33 than it is to have him at 23 regardless of what his win shares or per or whatever else is.

And that is precisely due to the fact that it's a lot harder to play against other great players at that age. It's much easier to be statistically great over the course of a full season when you are playing in much lower leverage games against a mix of good bad and mediocre teams.

I'll take the Point God, Chris Paul.

He will be 32-36 for the duration, but his highly skill-focused game should age well, he's shown little decline, and he's a strong favorite to be a top15 player through at least the first three years in this exercise.

Elite creation without a major wart isn't really left in the draft, and will help team-building purposes down the line.

I have that as spew and think people should be adding 6 months to these age estimates. You're not playing for October, you're playing for June. Paul will be 33-37 in leverage games

Even granting that point, which is somewhat trivial/misleading given that the post-season is 2 months not 6, in this more balanced league it will be far more difficult to be good enough in the regular season to make the playoffs. So the regular season here will be higher leverage than in the real NBA.

the 33-37 was sneaky on my part since his birthdays in may

but its the nba and half the teams make the playoffs. i think +6 months is fair

having a more even field comes into play in a lot of other areas. specifically, i wonder if drafting specialists early is a mistake

If AJ gets to before I'm around...

1. Paul George

I didn't expect to even get PM'd cuz we just gave Klay to AJ.
