Ha I'm done looking it up, but saying his influence is overstated when it took me 5 minutes to find directly applicable quotes about his influence from almost everyone taken above him is just dumb.

And the one that didn't have any quotes loved dudes and married his daughter, so you know he wanted to bang Elvis.

Someone needs to challenge Needle to Starcraft 2 and throw the game so he will finally book a win, quit and make his pick.

Meh, I mostly meant that Elvis didn't singlehandedly invent rock music or anything. I think a lot of people assume that before him it didn't exist and nobody was doing it. He was just the first guy to be the entire entertainment package and is obviously the most influential of the bunch because of it.

It's undeniable that Elvis was the largest pop culture figure in uhh the history of the world I suppose but he was also in the right place at the right time. Like say Michael Jackson comes out at the same time as Elvis (in that culture), America just wouldn't be ready for it. He paved the way.

I think Elvis was a little too old for him.

I like the Madonna pick and was thinking about picking her. I'm a huge women in music dork and have a feeling she'll be the only woman drafted for quite awhile.

Next pick should be a woman, maybe the next two.

McCartney would've been my number 1 easily. So prolific.

Really? I admit I haven't fully drawn up a big board or anything, but I can't think of any women who fit that description.

How is Bananarama not in your top 10, seriously

Quit trying to lead people astray, it isn't nice.

When it comes to music I spend most of my time looking forward, trying to find the next great new band/album. This look back is going to be a lot of fun and will probably significantly increase the amount of music on my HDD.

Given that, I think it would be fun to talk about specifics. When applicable it'd be cool if people talked a little about a favorite album, track, or even just a moment in your writeup.

Too late for me to get in on this? I've been away for a few days. I'll take the last pick. I'll also co-own with someone I guess.

EDIT: Co-owning with TSC.

Also, while I'm almost always firmly against them, I think there could be some benefit to a picks thread if a mod (MEb since he's in the draft?) would be willing to maintain it.

Blonde on Blonde is one of my top 5 albums of all time. "Visions of Johanna" is on the short list of my alltime favorite songs.

Dude, you're just wrong, imo. They both have their strengths and they were both top-notch songwriters, and I honestly don't see how you can say those albums were "driven by Paul" (not to mention raising the question of whether or not those are the best Beatles albums) . Saying Paul was a bigger influence inside the Beatles than John is silliness.

All right, let's welcome tUt to the draft (and welcome Assani back in, for that matter).

Yeah, I think Lennon>>>>>McCartney.

I just caught up on the thread and I think I'd rank the drafted so far:

1. Elvis
2. Lennon
3. Dylan
4. MJ
5. Boss
6. McCartney
7. Madonna

Springsteen pick and writeup though
