Thanks for the bump. I literally just spent the past hour listening to music from this thread.
It was in this thread that I learned that when it came to music(and maybe even life) I had so little in common with the rest of sporting events. One of SE's top threads imo.
I still reread the thread from time to time. This draft was insanely fun obv. I'm still pissed that I had limited internet access in the later rounds so I didn't get to fully commit to some of my homerish picks.
At some point, there was some mention of doing a desert island album draft, I'm not sure but I may have been the one to mention the idea and some people were interested.
Any interest in this? Something like draft 10-12 albums each to take to a desert island, no live albums perhaps. No idea how to treat double albums but WE, I would definitely be in.
am i the only one still waiting for my label to start putting out albums?
ya know, the living members anyway...
hypothetical questions:
- let's say your label put out 1 album per year (~15 songs), with all artists alive and in peak ability. how much would you pay for that, given that you'd have to buy it every year?
- how about for a replacement level label (take roughly the average of how they appeal to you)?
- how about the label you like least, would you even bother buying their annual album?
Rihanna is quite indisputably the biggest solo female artist around the world atm and has been since 2008, so she's not a horrible pick.
Gaga is close but Rihanna is more popular in places like Africa, south-east Asia, south Pacific islands, etc.
?
Am I reading this right? Rihanna was taken in the 7th round. For a #1 female artist at any time, that's massive value. Strikingly bad upon first glance is Jay-Z in the top 10 and Thom Yorke as a 2nd rounder.
