Edit: The only thing I was unsure about was how much music MJ actually wrote/produced, which makes him less valuable then a couple other guys that would go that high.
He's listed as the sole writer of Billie Jean, Beat It, Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, and basically the entire "Bad" album. And he got shared or partial credit on most of the rest.

You guys are crazy. Take his top 5 album sales and compare them to anybody. It's not even close. Just pure annihilation.

Underrating MJ craziness + career nose dive imo.

Still one of the top handful of guys but probably going to be a bit overrated. For example I'd say he should go ahead of Bruce but the gap isn't nearly as wide as Assani is implying.

I really don't understand how MJ isn't getting more respect as a pick here. He's awesome in this draft. Leaving aside what he did with unnamed band, dudes solo career started in 1971 and imo was still making classic hits as late as 1991. All of which done before he turned into a complete weirdo. He was also the biggest star in unnamed band and he wrote a ton of the bands hit songs, as well as many of his own hit songs. Add in his performing ability and its a no brainer.

Michael Jackson was a huge star at like age 7 too. He's a child star who became the biggest star in the world as an adult. This is almost unprecedented.

Yeah I mean once I realized I didn't care between 3 top guys Bruce was a pretty easy pick.

Plus now Bruce can add another trophy to the wall.

IMO MJ is an easy 1-3 pick. The guy is nearly unrivaled and if he wasn't crazy, could have outsold any other artist by an enormous margin. Producers/writers/etc. helped, but the final product was 99% due to MJ.

It's frankly surprising how well-adjusted an adult he was.

agreed completely. MJ definitely has his negatives, but his positives are just so massive. Personally I had him at #2 on my list.

Here is a cool video from an interview MJ did a while back describing how he came up with the Billie Jean beat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9colO9fhI7o

He beat boxes too!

edit, need to find the right video.

This is cool though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wBvK...eature=related

Yeah I mean I never seriously argued he should go #1. I'd rather build a studio with the boss than some British dude or a pedo.
