DC couldn't come close to taking JBJ down, Brock against elite wrestlers really hasn't been able to take anyone down and hold them there (besides Carwin in r2 when he was gassed)

He didn't take Couture down 9 years ago and he is more of a natural LHW. So seems unlikely he would be able to just ground and pound JBJ. I think Bones would be a solid -300 to -350 for it.

HW weight limit is 265.

Idk, I just watched the Couture fight. Looked like easy W for Brock.

But...there is the possibility that Brock has been juiced for every fight he's had, so he could be an even more diminished fighter than just his age.

Dana throwing major shade at Woodley at the post presser.

He said GSP/Bisping is back on and nobody wants to watch Woodley fight.

Woodley gotta be pissed.

That was surreal to watch. I was terrified for DC

Can't blame Woodley for wanting to win.

Who does JBJ face if he stays at LHW? A rematch with Gustafsson? Volkan Oezdemir might get a shot given how easily he handled Manuwa even though I don't think he stands a chance in the fight.

There's simply nobody left to fight and the HW division is really weak. Moving up seems inevitable.

man, I can't wait for another Woodley fight

I was satisfied with the way DC got merked, hopefully he's fine now

Dana's hate of Woodley makes me like him more. He did exactly what he needed to do.

I get were dana is coming from though, its hard to market a guy an sell fights when the champ has been boo'd last 2 fights with some boring chants thrown in.

+1000

White is such an idiot. He views the fighters as indentured servants whose job is to "just bleed" and provide entertaining fights, entertaining in this context meaning taking any fight offered and then putting their head down and bombing away without regard for their chances to win, their health, or their long term career.

The fighter has the same job in any other sport: Win. That's it, nothing else. It is not his/her job to be entertaining, the sport itself should be entertaining regardless and if it isn't that is not the fault of the fighter that is the fault of the rulesmakers.

Woodley took the route most likely to give him victory which is exactly what he should do. It would be moronic of him to do anything else. I'm impressed that he is committed enough to stick to that kind of game plan. Good for him.

There was plenty of opportunity for Woodley to own the 4th and 5th rounds. Didn't Rogan say that fight had the record for least amount of strikes?

Fighting exists as entertainment.

When Woodley won the belt he spoke out against fighting #1 contender Wonderboy saying he would rather fight GSP or Nick Diaz. Woodley is free to fight whatever style he wants but he cant have it both ways. You arent gonna get the big money fights at the top of the PPV card when noone wants to pay for your fights.

^ Exactly. The other problem is that once Woodley loses, his career will effectively be at a dead end because no-one wants to see him fight.

He stuffed two dozen take downs in 25 minutes so the apparently threat of take down was low af. The threat of strikes was as lower than any opponent he has faced. The smart thing to do is fight with as close to zero risk as you can so you can get another w if your record is all that matters. If you are trying to prove, as he claims, that you are the best fighter in the world and become a legend and make the real money? It's not smart at all.

I hate Dana also, and I get woodley's arguments, they have merit, but I don't want to watch him fight at all at this point never mind pay for it.

He grabbed the fence twice fwiw.

He almost went down in the first without a fence grab too but steadied against the cage last sec.

re: Woodley/Dana - Both sides are right regarding the issues (save Woodley clamoring for big fights), as a consumer you just speak with your dollars.

Looking on the UFC site his stats for the fight were 0:00 secs control, 57 total strikes. The 21 or so takedowns defended was impressive but his output over that 25 minute fight is borderline embarrassing. Especially considering he is fighting a guy who has pretty much zero stand up game and for the most part had 1 eye.

He was afraid to take any risks because he wanted that GSP payday and ironically by fighting so boring he lost out on that payday.

Volkon, gus 2 & some middleweights can move up such as lukerockhold, all would be good fights.

Bisping/GSP isn't a fight that is going to generate more interest than Woodley even with that performance. I think GSP just doesn't want to fight Woodley because losing to him means less options than losing to Bisping. And Woodley's boring performance vs Maia gave them that out.

What is Woodley supposed to do though? You tell him that if he wins he gets GSP in MSG, makes it pretty difficult to take unnecessary risks at that point.

It's two fights. The 1st Wonderboy fight was great and he is fighting two extreme specialists in two different ways the last two. **** the guy for getting it done. Doesn't mean he would be boring Vs anyone.

If he loses to Woodley, what could he even do next? Anderson Silva? Good chance Bisping wouldn't have the belt by then and following a WW title fight loss with a MW title shot isn't really realistic even if Chael did something similar.

If he loses to Bisping, he can go back down to WW and fight for the title.

I was surprised how composed he was at the press conference after hearing it would be Bisping/GSP. Surprised he didn't really lay into George and question his manhood in various ways. That's the best way to get the fight, or atleast get the public more interested in it.
