I agree with this. MW division is not one to cut in front of right now in terms of a title shot. Also he's been gone so long. He could probably do with a warm up fight. I think he should fight loser of that fight. If he wins title shot. If he wins go for MW. Builds the hype up perfectly.

Mitrione sick, fight cancelled

wow

Surprised they didn't just do Kongo or Oli vs Fedor and pay the other one.

Chael offered to step in but bellator didn't want to ( apparently ).

I'd imagine it was a Fedor/his team issue.

Would think Bellator would want Fedor to fight just about anyone to keep him on the card.

Hendricks looked good at 185 but I'm not sure how competitive he can be at that weight class. Did anyone see the post-fight interview with him and Stann? He looked like he was a weight class smaller than him.

A lot of these guys like Hendricks, Cowboy, Gastalum that are moving up and having some success cutting less weight just seem like they are at a real disadvantage at the new weight class compared to their overall potential as fighters.

I think the solution is UFC needs more weight classes like boxing has. Only 3 classes between 155-185 pounds is too little as the sport continues to develop. Dos Anjos can't make 155 anymore, so now he has to move to 170? It's just a huge jump.

UFC posted the Lewis/Browne post-fight interview on Youtube...

WITHOUT the Browne and Rousey references.

Yeah, I've always felt the incremental jumps in weight classes in MMA have been ridiculously unhealthy...it just ain't good for the health of fighters.

I feel unified rules of MMA/promoters/organisations as a whole only want to have so many weight divisions so that they're more 'meaningful' but would there really be any objections, particularly from fighters, to new weight divisions such as light/super middleweight and light/super welterweight?

If there had been a 'super heavyweight' division, Kimbo Slice might still be around.

Yeah, if you have 8 belts between 145-205 instead of 5 then those belts don't really mean as much, guys move up and down weight more often. And it does become like boxing where the actual fighters mean a little more and the belts mean a little less. And a company like UFC doesn't really have much incentive for that to happen, they want everything to revolve around guys trying to attain those titles.

I think they already are at max belts. It dilutes the product too much and we are already seeing a farce with interim belts.

If you have 8 then you will end up with 10-15 including interem.

Still tough to deny it would be better for the overall product with guys having more options for weight classes rather than these huge jumps. So the actual fights better. It's just worse from a marketing standpoint and the fights won't seem as big.

I think the interim stuff being a joke is a separate issue as well.

Mayweather told Freddie Roach that he's going to fight Conor. Conor spoke with TMZ a few days ago and when asked if he'd fight Mayweather in Ireland, he told the reporter he's not up to speed and that many things happened in the last few days.

Too expensive for no reasons.
Already know the winner anyway.

Could definitely see the Ferguson/Khabib winner in their post-fight presser not only saying something generic like "I'm the real fight for you Connor, not Mayweather!" but just ****ting all over it. Calling it a spectacle and saying anyone who orders is wasting their money in an attempt to get McGregor back in the cage with them.

Maybe an impassioned interview like that goes viral and people turn on the fight a little.
