McGregor is more of a scrappy gym rat.

Joseph Benavidez def. Henry Cejudo via Split Decision (30-26, 29-27, 27-29)

lol refs

I have disagreeed with refs before but this is the first time in a long time i cant even work out how the refs came to that decision. Cujedo won every round easy.

Had Henry winning 1 & 3 and Jobi winning 2. With the point deducted I had it a 28-28 draw

Except we know that he's sitting out until at least, what is it, March? So you can call it 11 months but it's a minimum of 15 right off the bat.

Then factor in that he's expressed next to zero interest in dropping back to 45. You can demand proof that he's refused to fight Aldo if you want, but most of us are comfortable drawing an inference here -- after discussions with McGregor the UFC has no confidence that he's willing to book that fight for the first half of 2017. Otherwise it's not in their interest to strip him. They know this makes the FW belt a Mickey Mouse belt.

I like McGregor, but he did this to himself. Three straight fights at other weights, all while 145 needed him more. He had plenty of warning that three fights plus a six month break would be too much, and he went ahead and did it anyway.

The only thing I'll blame the UFC for here is making this lame interim fight between Pettis and Holloway in an attempt to save 206.

Woodley seems very susceptible to head games to me. You can tell that he doesn't quite understand why he isn't well liked and that it bothers him. I think he'd try the routine where he pretends that he embraces the hate but it'll just be so obvious that he doesn't.

In the fight I think he'll be tentative. Conor's confidence will spook him. He'll probably get clipped. And then we'll see how well Conor's power translates. If it's more like it was against Nate then against Eddie, then I think Woodley will be fine.

This is honestly the fight I'm hoping for.

I don't think Conor will be able to maintain this maniacal focus and swagger for all that much longer. The two belt dream has been driving him forward throughout his UFC career. Make mega fights while you can.

Dean's right on everything again. Only nit - Woodley did already try a halfhearted embrace of the boos against Wonderboy.

I think Conor has no interest in the weight cut to 45. He did it as a means to an end with the belt. Once he beat Aldo it was bye bye FW and he just prolonged it as long as he could with empty words.

I also want to see him fight Woodley. Whether his power translates to 170 is more interesting to me than if he could clip Khabib before being taken down.

Is gastalum moving up a weight class to fight Kennedy punishment for missing weight at 205?

Kennedy seems a lot bigger than him. I'd say I like Kennedy in that fight but not sure about how much ring rust he has since he hasn't fought in like 2 yrs.

Dana said he won't let Gastellum fight at 170 again.

He'll prbly get another shot down the road but him and Lineker are the worst at making weight on the roster.

Any opinions on that fight?

Kennedy seems like he shouldn't have much problem with Gastalum's wrestling.

In an interview the other day Dana said "Diaz Vs Mcgregor round3? I don't want that fight"

why would he not want that fight? How much does this guy hate the diaz bros? lol

I think it's because White expects the same outcome as the last fight.

So Pettis missed weight (148). Belt's still available but only for Holloway.

The idea of that fight being for an interim belt is the stupidest thing I've ever seen out of the UFC.

Aldo was just given the real one! He's ready to fight. Just so so so dumb.

Did Aldo accept the belt and back off of his retirement talk?

That's why it's for the interim belt. Big boy belt was given to Aldo.

Jose Aldo 'knew' Conor McGregor's belt would be stripped; plans title defense and then rematch
Quote:
Newly minted UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo said it was inevitable Conor McGregor would have to give up one of his titles.

Now that two-division champ McGregor (21-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) has “relinquished” his featherweight belt, Aldo (26-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC), who was subsequently promoted from interim titleholder to primary champion, plans to defend the title in February or March, presumably against the winner of next month’s interim title bout between Max Holloway (16-3 MMA, 12-3) and Anthony Pettis (19-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) at UFC 206.

After that, Aldo is targeting a rematch with McGregor.

They could of just waited until after this fight before striping McGregor and saved all this interim nonsense.
