Spoiler:
Jesus, Munoz has some of the most savage GnP I've seen in the UFC...especially impressive considering he was almost KO'ed about 3-4 times. He went limp from the uppercut and woke up when he hit the floor, incredible comeback

It's like Anderson sucks us in with fights like Franklin, Marquardt, Griffin, Irvin then drops turds on us like this one, Leites, and Cote

That he is going to put Anderson on his back where he can't run around and taunt him.

He wants to put on a good show with his antics as opposed to exciting KOs imo. Plus, the 2nd group of guys (Leites, Cote and Maia) fought more disciplined fights than the first group and since all Anderson does is counter those made for the more exciting finishes.

You won't find a bigger GSP fanboy than me, but Silva's range will make this a very difficult task.

Jesus, I hate Anderson Silva

I don't want to hear an ounce of 'omg you don't understand what you're watching'.

That **** was boring as hell. Anderson is 20 times as talented as Maia and would rather dance around him than actually finish him. Total bitch fight. Unless it comes out he had the martian death flu, there's zero excuse for that. He was afraid Maia was gonna catch him on the way in? Marquardt KO'd his ass in under a minute. Maia couldn't hurt him in any conceivable way standing, and Silva just refused to take the fight to him. Maia is reduced to wading in and throwing silly looking punches. AND EVEN WHEN HE DID, ANDERSON STILL REFUSED TO ACTUALLY HIT HIM. If you watch the fight, there are at least 10-15 times when Maia comes in, Anderson dodges and then runs away instead of countering when Maia is WIDE OPEN. Anderson could have beaten the **** out of Maia and for whatever reason chose not to. He turned down so many opportunities to hit him in favor of dancing, running and head bobbing him to death.

Christ. When you're 20 times as talented as somebody, it's just embarrassing to have a fight like that. He didn't even try to finish him. He had zero interesting in doing anything but the bare minimum of what would win the fight. Don't let him hit me, leg kick and jab him a bit, and then who cares what else happens.

Also, did the Edgar/Penn fight really happen? Really?

I just watched both fights. I thought Edgar won the fight, but I didn't score it round-by-round. It was certainly closer than the Sherdog play-by-play made it seem. I wouldn't have complained regardless of who won.

And yeah, Silva obviously could have finished that fight at any moment. I'm not sure what he was trying to do. He shouldn't be allowed to fight at 185 anymore though. I'd like to see him try that **** against Jon Jones.

I'm convinced Anderson wanted to make Maia look bad but then after his attempts to finish him in the 1st and 2nd round failed he totally gassed, remember this was his first fight in 8 months. Still really bizzare, I think he could've ended the fight within 1 minute if he really wanted to.

I also hope they don't make Silva fight GSP at 170, but make it a catch weight fight at 178.

I'm stunned Edgar won, I thought he'd be competitive but eventually BJ would catch him and then RNC him. I actually thought he won the fight easily I would've been more shocked if BJ won this fight then when Machida won. Wonder what's next for BJ? A rematch with Kenny Florian? Maybe fight the winner of Tyson Griffin/Evan Dunham. Hopefully what happened to Miguel Torres doesn't happen to BJ.

Dana quotes from the press conference

Quote:
* I guarantee you, I will make it up to the fans

* I wouldnt come here if I was (Anderson)

* I don't want to see GSP vs. Silva after tonight. Silva might be the first champion fighting on a prelim. I don't want to see that sh*t

* This one took the cake - when asked if this was more embarrassing than 97

* I'm so blown away and disgusted and saddened.

* If YOU'RE that talented, be mike tyson. go in there and finish

* To end it the way that we did was an embarrasment for me, the ufc, the fertittas, the ufc

Anderson quotes

Quote:
* "I don't feel like I owe anyone an apology right now. Sometime's fights turn out good, sometimes they turn out bad."
* "The way I feel is my mission was completed. I cam in and dominated the fight."
* "My goal in the fight was to finish the fight if i had the opportunity to. I wanted to come in to make a point. "
The bolded is my problem. He clearly had a huge number of chances to play hopscotch with his fists on Maia's face. Instead, he was content to dodge when Maia attacked and just move backwards for another leg kick. He didn't care about finishing the fight at all. GSP at least went for some submissions against Hardy. BJ and Edgar fought it out for 5 but they engaged the whole time, and both fighters absolutely would have finished the fight if they could have. Anderson didn't even try.
