In fact, you have to give the ref an assist on that last one.

to be fair, Sarkodie's first yellow looked like a bonafide red.

Toronto is so head and shoulders the best team in this league. Shame they have to go through a 12-team variance fest to title

Pretty clear that there is are 2 top tiers of MLS teams, and then everybody else. For me, the list looks something like:

Tier 1: Toronto, FC Dallas, Chicago
Tier 2: NYCFC, Sporting KC, Atlanta

and plays out something along the lines of:

Toronto FC
.
FC Dallas
.
.
Chicago Fire
.
.
NYC FC
.
Sporting KC
Atlanta United

I think FC Dallas is really really good, and will get better with Diaz back and healthy, which is why they're so close to Toronto. Chicago has looked great with the 3-headed beast in midfield feeding Nikolic and Accam but they I'm not sold on the rest of their lineup while the other two teams are solid top to bottom.

That said, they're clearly better than the next 3 teams right now. NYCFC gets the temporary 4th spot since Villa and Viera are probably the best player and coach on those 3 teams, but they've got a nasty schedule coming up so we'll see how they perform.

Atlanta and Sporting KC are mirror opposites with total focus on offense and defense, respectively. I'll give SKC the edge for now, but reserve the right to change that once we see what kind of difference Guzan makes.

After those teams it's a mishmash of every team except New England, RSL, Minnesota and DC United.

I don't disagree with the order at all and think you've nailed it. But for me the gap between Toronto and anyone else is much bigger than you've indicated.

I'm shocked at how bad Portland has been. Their defense is just atrocious but I thought they'd be much better. Adi kind of sucks

Harsh to put NE in with the RSL, Minnesota, DC United's. I'd put LAG and maybe VAN (thought I think they're going to start to improve) in that tier before New England

Yeah, I guess we'll see. I'm definitely advancing Dallas some credit based on their previous years' results and Diaz's early form since coming back from injury.

Maybe. NE def has better talent than those other teams but I think their standings are buoyed by +7 GD in two victories over RSL and Minnesota. Which, to be fair, might mean they should be in a tier above them! Their next game on 7/22 against LAG will probably help shake out the bottom end of the table a bit.

I didn't even realize that Josef Martinez is now in the MLS.

I've been wanting him to play more for years but he was always held back by high-status veterans that he was either benched for outright or had to sacrifice himself for in support-striker roles, which he actually did pretty good whenever he had the chance to be fair.

Then Belotti emerged to unreasonable degrees, there was a change of system too, and it was game over I guess but still a player that could have been good for many decent European teams.

Martinez only ever serious chance for Torino was during their Europa League run in 14/15 and he was excellent there.

Should be a huge scoop for his team and not surprised that it seems like he's been tearing it up.

To be honest I'm not sure I've ever seen him actually lead the forward line so to speak, I might have to catch that, with Venezuela Rondon is there of course and for Torino, like mentioned, it was almost always sort of in support behind and around.

Crazy how fast the balance of power can shift in MLS. The East was pathetic last year, now it looks head and shoulders above the West and has a 26-17-19 record in inter-conference matches

ASG Fan XI, not necessarily starters: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...706-story.html

Howard
Zusi - Garza - DMB
Bradley - Schweinsteiger - Kaka -
Giovinco
Nikolic - Villa - Almiron

great debut, looks like he'll bring a load of skill to this team, which they desperately need
can't wait to see what kind of partnership he can form with Montero & Alphonso

Whitecaps also supposedly trying to sign Atiba Hutchinson from Besiktas, who would shore up the midfield to say the least

ya, with so much parity things can change pretty quick if you nail some signings

Lol Bradley

ya it's always just the big stars + USMNT players
knowing this league, wouldn't be at all surprised if the voting was rogged

have Zusi, Garza, and DMB been playing well this year at least?

zusi is okay can't imagine he actually deserves that spot though

opara on the other hand has been playing like the defensive player of the year he is fantastic until he inevitably gets injured at some point

Yep Zusi and DMB over Opara is lol. Kaka and Bradley obv shouldn't be on there either. Allesandrini is a lock starter. Valeri should be in there too and even though he's been hurt I'd have Josef Martinez as well

Vazquez and Meram also better midfield options than lol Bradley and Kaka too.
