Re: affiliate teams in the Open Cup, i know a couple of years ago US Soccer banned 'B' teams from competing, i.e. Sounders 2, Galaxy II, Swope Park Rangers, Cosmos B, etc. Teams that merely have a relationship with MLS sides but are not owned and operated by the parent are allowed.
