it's essentially more cap space iirc

sounds like:
- Dwyer was a FA after the season, SKC thought they'd lose him? so ez call i guess
- but Orlando thinks they can re-sign him?
- OCFC will probably sell Larin to a Euro club this winter

Is it actual cash sent over also? And does it reduce the cap space of the team sending? Seems weird

don't think actual money is transferred, no
yes Orlando has lost some cap flexibility, but apparently they were swimming in allocation money from previous deals, and given that they made this deal they probably didn't really need it

not sure if/when it expires, or if it just keeps rolling over forever, or what
related: MLS rules seem to change every ~2 months

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allocation_money

Quote:
In Major League Soccer, allocation money represents an amount of money teams can use to sign players and/or allocate to their salaries to get under the salary cap.
easier than me trying to explain it i think

so if the salary cap is $3.845M for this season, it could now be $4.745-5.445M for SKC
(plus whatever extra allocation money they already had)

TAM expires after 3 or 4 windows, GAM doesn't. I'm pretty sure the mechanism for allocation transfers is to adjust spreadsheets at MLS HQ.

the hot wishcasting for skc fans is that this will bring nemeth back again. i have no idea how reliable those rumors are and the mls financial system is such a cluster **** that i don't know if this is a good deal or not but there are a few mls organizations you have to trust to know what is best and i think skc is certainly one of them. matt doyle seems to think they had to do it and he is one of the few mls people that seems to know what they are talking about so whatever

trading your best goalscorer when your biggest weakness by far is scoring goals is kind of wtfbbq but if he was gonna be gone anyway then they are probably making the right move. i think nemeth is a better player by a good margin although tbf he probably ran pretty well with some of his ridic goals when he was playing for kc. some difference makers at the transfer window could be huge this season. i don't think skc had much of a shot at the title with the current team construction so probably worth a gamble. as it stands now though i'm not really a big fan of diego rubio at all i haven't been particularly impressed

the 1.6m in allocation money is apparently worth about 2.5m under the salary cap

Two types of allocation money, General and Targeted. General is basically a secret way to drive up the salary cap and has been around for a while.

GAM rules could also change, but right now every team is guaranteed $200k, teams who miss the playoffs get another $200k, qualifying for CCL gets you $100k, any teams who make CCL knockout stage split $200k, and any teams with fewer than 3 DPs split the $150k that each team with 3 DPs pays to the league (unless that 3rd DP is a Young DP).

GAM can:
  • Sign a new player who wasn't in MLS
  • Re-sign an existing player
  • Offset loan/transfer costs
  • Extend 2nd year players who were new to MLS the prior season
  • Buy a DP charge down to $150k

Targeted Allocation Money is fairly new and was basically created so that LAG could sign a 4th DP, but is laid out as a way for teams to bring in more high-dollar players. To iron's point, you gotta spend it or it goes away.

TAM can:
  • Sign a new player whose salary + acq costs are above DP level
  • Re-sign an existing player making more than DP level
  • Convert a DP to a non-DP by buying down his salary budget charge, but we have to replace that DP with another one at an equal or greater investment
  • Spend up to $200k to sign homegrown players above their slotted salary level ($53k each + a total of $125k spread across everyone)

A CF scoring 0.3 GP90 is a sign he's part of the goal scoring problem.

I haven't ever gotten in under the hood to try to calculate this, but I have heard from others that it seems the market value is settling in at about 1.4 to 1.5 : 1.
So that is consistent with what you are saying.

If Orlando does send Larin to another out of league club the League will print up and award $650,000 TAM (read created out of thin air) to them which lowers their cost of the transaction.

Dwyer was servicable to good but Nemeth was a level above. Even though he was a thorn in the side vs. the Timbers, I think it would be great if SKC could get him back.

rumour is that Besiktas (2x running Turkish champs) are one of the teams in on Larin, not sheriff now or winter break tho

was reading yesterday that Orlando preferred to sell in the winter, and that there were at least 3-5 interested Euro clubs

TFC would be basically unstoppable if they had a legit $6.5M midfielder in place of LolBradley

fairly amazing that he's the 3rd highest paid player in the league

No brainer

LAFC is surely dumb enough to overpay for him and tbf he'd prob be a bigger draw there than in Canada

CAPTAIN AMERICA IS HERE TO SAVE LOS ANGELES lololol

would be so filthy if they pull that off and then replace him with someone legit. always impossible to know what realistic targets there are out there, but i'm sure they can fairly easily dig up an improvement. maybe Giovinco has some ideas...

Ives Galarcep of Goal.com writes that David Accam would like to move on from the Fire, and that it could happen should Chicago acquire Colombian Juan Quintero. With 11 goals and seven assists, the Ghanaian Accam is having his best MLS season, but he has only been in coach Veljko Paunovic's starting XI in two of Chicago's last five league matches after an apparent falling out between the two.
helps explain why he didn't get picked for the ASG

According to Yahoo Sports France, Ligue 1 club Guingamp is bidding $3 million for Chicago Fire attacker David Accam.

Although Colombian midfielder Juan Quintero said on July 10 that he's bound for MLS, a report from Chicago writer Guillermo Rivera indicates that the chances of the Fire being the club to sign him are "not very high." ESPN's Taylor Twellman previously reported that Chicago are the frontrunners for his signature.

The Chicago Fire are apparently in the running to sign Polish international Jakub “Kuba” Blaszczykowski, according to a report out of Poland on June 13. The 31-year-old winger, who was reportedly chased by Chicago last year, moved from Borussia Dortmund to Wolfsburg last summer. He has 90 caps with the Polish national team.

did they say that Asad dude is like 2nd itl in assists? he's been lousy the couple times i've seen Atl

same with that Higuita guy on Orlando iirc

and was gonna say that Kaka just doesn't have the legs to be as influential as he should be anymore (i guess he's a FA after this season and Orlando aren't sure if they want to bring him back or not), but then he goes and does something like that
